as some of you may know i repasted my g73 last nite...the first time around everything went smoothly from start to finish. played with it for 3-4 hrs and wasnt satisfied with the temps so i decided to redo my thermal paste again.

so went ahead and disassembled my laptop. i was pretty sure i didnt do anything wrong nor forget anything to plug in. every screw was in there right places. no wired were broken. but when i try to turn my laptop on nothing happens. when i plug the AC the battery light doesnt turn on. so basically the laptop doesnt boot. i really need some help... :(

i read in a post a while ago something about a reset button which i tried but that doesnt work either. im starting to regret why i decided to do my paste...d*ammit

One of the wireless wires has come to rest on top of your reset button. Open the bottom panel and look to the side, just behind your wireless card. You'll see a silver box, its the reset button, and you'll probably see a wire between it and your laptop case. Just move the wire around and it'll be fine.

Actually, when I did it, I was like "dammit, I didn't want to have to open this back up" I knew right away what was wrong with mine too. I didn't obviously break anything, so I knew there was no damage, and the reset button getting stuck will keep the computer from doing anything, including showing any lights that it was charging :p

Nothing lighting up with the adapter light showing solid green is how you can tell it's just your reset button that's covered. If it doesn't power up and your adapter light is blinking you have broken something major.

    Why thank you, mokylim. :)

The debugging is down atm since Gary is off at PepCon in NY, I think. He even has his email set to Away!!?! At least I can just relax, play a few games, and marvel at my lappy's awesomeness, especially regarding the temps. ;) :D

Me too, successfully despite my complaints. Found my heat issues were related to the surfaces I was keeping it on. My lapdesk holds heat pretty badly, realized that it was the issue when I decided to keep my laptop on a book instead, and it dropped from 63C to about 56-57C (which is where I wanted it). Just using it in my lap it stays around 59. The table I sometimes use is actually a coffee table, and its a cheap one from Ikea, so the core of it is actually cardboard (no lie), which also likes to hold heat in very well.

When not using these surfaces, it runs nice and cool. Soo I'd say my repaste was successful.
