I had the g51jx-x1 for about a month now and I was completely happy with this thing. The laptop ran smoothly and it pretty much breezed through whatever task(s) I threw at it.
But one crucial flaw with this laptop is seriously making me consider returning it for a g73. That flaw is the heat. I know the g73 was specifically engineered to have excellent heat output.
I've gotten multiple BSOD's in the middle of intensive gaming, which I honestly don't have a problem with, but it becomes bothersome to reboot the computer. I think the heat output is actually pretty good, considering the specs. The vent is wheezing out a hefty amount of hot air which tells me that it's doing its job pretty well; It's just not doing it well enough for the laptop to stay cool and for my palms to not sweat a waterfall.

I owned a G60VX for about 1 month, and then came across the G73JH, and so of course I made the switch.
I was AMAZED at the difference in heat output between the two machines! The G60VX constantly had this high flow of VERY hot air out of the vent on the left side, and the the palm rest (and pretty much the whole laptop) was always hot to the touch.
With the G73JH, it appears they got the cooling system correct - never any hot or even warm palm rests, and the air coming out the rear vents has never been anywhere as hot as what I experienced with the G60VX.
I cannot make any comparisons with the G51JX as I never owned one, but regardless, I hope this is of help. -

me too the system is never even warm ..its always cool...and it never gets bsod's for me at all..
get it from powernotebooks they seem to have the best stock -
Yeah the ASUS G73 does a great job of getting rid of heat. I can barely hear the fan too, and when I do, it doesn't sound like a typical fan! It literally sounds like a super quiet jet engine.

G73 is the best gaming laptop for the price. I gave my G50VT to my son and am still trying to sell the G72. Really enjoying this G73. Fast, cool with a great screen (LG or Hannstar). Definitely worth the price of admission.
Cheers,
g73 worth it?
