    hi,

I've looked everywhere to find an answer but couldn't..
i know it support hdmi 1.3c which should be fine, and i've seen iZ3D which discontinues.
Can the 5870m be used as a 3d player through hdmi? do i need special player? driver?

    thanks,

I don't think it does, but what do you see with the bluray player installed and the 3d disk inserted?

The player alone should be enough for movies.

I haven't tested it so far. I do have a 3d TV, but haven't yet hooked up my laptop to it since I have the TV.

Get Stereoscopic player and set it to the 3d settings the TV is. Now you should get 3d image. If not most new 3d TV-s have options to turn 2D to 3D also side by side, etc. Its more work but you are able to play 3D videos via HDMI.
Have tested the 2D to 3D with my LG tv and well 1080p films look almost as good as standard 3D movies.

Also if its side by side image then you might have to set the TV so you do not get shadow on screen. The overlay of the two images might be off just by a fraction. How you know this ? you should start to see double :)
