I have a lovely new system coming my way with an Intel 160gb SSD, and I was hoping to get some input regarding a primary SSD drive and windows, since I've never had one.

    1) Is it possible to use (or rip if it's not provided easily) the Win7 CD key from the factory install to use in a clean win7 install (not using restore, just a basic home premium install)

    2) If not, is there a way to use the system restore but have it partition and store all the junk/restore stuff on the secondary platter drive, rather than bloating the SSD.

    3) What special measures should I take with a primary SSD at install?

Why don't you use Kalim guide on the clean install. It uses the recovery, which avoids all problems.
