i am from india but my relatives will buy and bring it to india while coming so... few questions both the versions will cost me 1300$..budget is not beyond 1300

    1) Does best buy version come with international warranty??
    2) 1600x900 vs 1920x1080 in gaming pleasure (fps and quality)
    3) any problems in these models which cannot be rectified( keyboard lag etc)

i am inclining towards g73 because of the lower resolution and 5870 but the bigger screen is making me inclined towards g53

The 5870 vbios is garbage on the G73JH. Powerplay is still broken and Asus refuses to fix anything. There is also the issue of keyboard lag, and also the touchpad issue associated with the G73 and some G53s is seems. (I haven't had any issues of that sort) I dumped my G73JH-X1 and got the G53JW. I'm 110% happy with my decision.

For warranty. Email both companies. to see there real answers.
Best buy rules say they have to work on it. Now if you ship it to the closest store to you that might work just fine. But you will not be sending to ASUS.

Some owners have reported that Best Buy refuses to work on it and tells customers to ship it to Asus. (So much for their pricey "Protection Plan".)

I wouldn't let BB touch my laptop under any circumstances. "Geek Squad" is a bunch of amateurs who follow strict "scripts" for resolving problems... meaning that the problems usually don't get resolved. (Just my opinion.)

buy the G53.. it has international warranty... BB is more for US ppl so i don't think it has international warranty for long... also, G53 is better deal than the G73BB which has lousy camera and in a way a way more infeiro model...

Yeah but if the laptop is completely FUBAR they replace it with with their pricey "Protection Plan".

I accidentally bricked my G73jh and they gave me the new G73jh HST7 with the i7 740qm.

So it's not like their warranty is totally bad.

Well I think the first thing you may want to figure out is how portable do you need this laptop to be??

I have the G73 Best Buy version and have no regrets. But I also use it 90% of the time just at my home. If I was taking it to work, business meetings, airports, etc. it would be just be too much of a pain. With this laptop some std. 17" bags won't fit it because of the design. I have the LG screen some of the Best Buy models have a AOC screen. I have no complaints on the LG screen at all. I haven't experience any keyboard lag. I type fairly quick but I don't do a ton of typing so maybe I never notice it. The touchpad issue people have is its a single bar and pivots down from the center. So the closer you press to the center of the button the more pressure it takes. Tap the far sides and its pretty easy.

So I would say if you need to take the laptop with you daily or a few times a week I'd lean towards the G53. Otherwise its real toss up.

Yeah and if if you do have a problem you can talk to someone in person, not over the phone like dealing with manufacturer. Also the only reason I have a g73 is because of best buy's warranty. They replaced my old gateway 6860fx for the g73-bst7. I don't think best buy's warranty is international though.

I would get the 53JW since you live in India. The JW and 460m are less likely to have a problem than the JH 5870. You may have a hard time getting service in India. I'll take reliability over performance any day. You won't notice the differnce in FPS anyway.

Yeah if you can afford the G53JW I would go with that. I don't know how common best buys are in india but Asus would cover you internationally.
