I took the bottom cover off yesterday and was just doing some investigating. I took the 2 visable ram sticks out and replaced them in a different order in the same 2 slots. I thought my laptop seemed kinda slow at the end of the day. Well it was.. windows saw only 2 gb of mem. I switched the sticks back in the order they came out and I can see 6gb again.

what the hell happened? The ram is all Hynix HMT125S6BFR8C-G7 though the 2 sticks I can see ar a slightly different shade of color.

    thanks

You most likely had not pushed them right in properly. I noticed this in my G73 when I dissassembled.

There might have been a RAM reason behind it but I believe it was the connection. Even with the clips on mine needed that extra shove in to show up.

If you have the G73 then yes it is, however in mine they had filled that one already with the 2GB but I hear certain models they didnt

You will need to dissassemble upto the point of removing the screen and top panel under the keyboard. Not to difficult but it does require removing the fiddly bits.

Isn't there another empty slot right ontop/below the two RAM that you can see? I know the JH has 3 slots visible from the bottom panel and one hidden. Only the SW have 2 visible and 2 hidden.
