for a few.. u hear about a lot more ppl complaining about it than praising it because ppl wouldn't make threads to do so as they have no problems and wouldn't even need to register here.. yes there are problems but i trust they're been taken care off.. if u want to be on the safe side , wait 1-2 weeks and see the updates from asus thread in asus gaming problems about what's been done to solve the issues.

    Not a failure.

The G73jh while it does have its quirks has the following points that will ultimately guarantee that it is not a failure.

    1. Huge customer population - Lots and lots of us have G73s, this ensures that when something is really wrong there are lots and lots of people making noise to get it fixed, this forces major companies like ASUS to answer these issues. And since Gary is working on them with ASUS, I feel confident in my decision buying a G73

    2. ASUS is a huge company, meaning that the resources to fix the problem should be present, even if it one guy working on the solution. (although it sounds like multiple parties are working on solutions, drivers, etc)

    3. Succession - The G73jw is a beaming example of the G73jh not being a failure. If a product truly does fail commercially, there will not be a follow up product with essentially the same design.

    4. The people who contribute to NotebookReview Forums ensure that the support that is so desperately needed is provided by the community. Also, many of us have this computer and live by the forums.

I really like the G73jh and I am about to receive mine from Powernotebooks.com tomorrow. If I end up with any problems I will know how to address them, thanks to everyone here.

So, in the end not a fail in my opinion. It's so much not a fail, I decided to get one too.

Not only the g73 is a failure. Lately almost every gaming laptop Asus made has some serious problem that needs months to be fixed. Before the g73 was the g51jx that had throttling problems and it took Asus months to be fixed. I have an Asus G71GX - this model had the GPU downclocking at 82C issue. I feel like Asus is just pushing their new models on the market without even testing them and the owners are like experimental animals.

Same chassis, but the JW ditches the 5870 for the GTX460m. And the main problem of the JH has been GSODs, directly related to the GPU. It has numerous other problems that I'm not going to list here, but are just as irksome.

The real failure is the fact that the G73JH has been out since, what, February? That's 6 months+ and these issues still haven't been resolved.

Who you gonna believe? Some troll named 14500435 who has absolutely nothing to backup his gibberish? Are any of you really going to say Geared2Play who earns his living by selling G73s a liar?

Unhappy customers will never cease with their complaints. I would wager 95% of the complaints posted on these forums are posted by maybe a dozen ceaseless whiners. Why these few haven't sold their G73 and moved is baffling.
    - I can only conclude, they enjoy complaining and they enjoy using notebooks they enjoy whining about.

If you are really interested and not just trolling Asus on this forum for giggles, contact Ken at GenTech, or BTO Tech or Justin at XoticPC. Sure they will be biased as Asus resellers. But their reputation as trusted notebook sellers on the line, as a loyal returning customer is the goal.
    - An outspoken, unhappy customer will ALWAYS be louder than happy customers on a forum.
    - Unhappy customers are more willing to post and announce their issues on forums.
    - Maybe a hundred G73 owners have posted on these forums... XoticPC alone had thousands in pre-order sold thousands more since. GenTech for MONTHS were perpetually sold out. BTO Tech sold out for months. PowerNotebooks soldout.
    - As soon as anyone on forums said G73 available at dozens and dozens of sites, Canada, Europe and abroad, within hours sold out.

    What a FAIL!
