    Hello everybody! :p
i've just received my g73jh 2 days ago and then followed this tutorial:
Because there is simply too much useless software installed with asus.
I installed the ati driver mobility CATALIST 10.3, then fraps, and assassin creed 2 and FurMark amd gpu clock and tool and hw monitor ^ ^
In short no overclock or turbo boost,in FurMark no problem 19 fps average in 1600 x 900 4xAA,so i try to play assassin creed 2 a bit, but the average fps isn't that great: 20 to 45 fps (for fraps) everything maxed out and 4xAA. I reboot the PC and try again with AC2 and it's between 10 fps and 18 fps now o_O.
So I install the latest ati driver 10.4 (uninstallingsafely with driver cleaner pro) and then restart windows 7 64 bit, I run AC2 again and there huge increase in fps between 35 and 60! I'm happy I said that this purchase was well worth the shots but 20 seconds later a screen gray / brown with lighter vertical lines appear ... the game come back five seconds later, I continue a bit but 20 seconds later black screen with gray lines, AC2 freeze completely and the sound is froze too so have to reboot ... I try again and look at the temperature before freezing, 70 ° C, it shouldnt a temp problem then.in FurMark the computer freeze after 5 seconds at 72 or 75°C...
I should retry another version of the ati driver you think? I'm really a noobie with ATI, I have always been with nvidia, so no idea about which driver is stable .
ps: Since I had to reinstall the driver, the whole conifiguration in CCC are default. And twin turbo mode disabled.
PS2: I happened to see the frequency of engine in amd GPU clock tool at 299.99 after a reboot o_O?!
    I'm really lost...
excuse if i make some faults, english isn't my native language :D

Please search this forum. There are a number of posts regarding the GSOD after updating VGA drivers.

This is not uncommon...there have been a few users who have had this Gray Screen (of Death) aka the GSOD, when trying to run the 10.3 or 10.4 catalyst drivers.

The stock drivers (ie. the 9.12 are considered to be very stable), albeit, it might came at the cost of lower FPS.

You can try this driver from Asus, a few users have found this to be more stable (its the 10.1 drivers I believe).

If I remember correctly, ATI was taking steps to disable "powerleech" software like furmark from running correctly. I'm not sure if they've done this or not, though...
