after the first tests on the machine we had some bluescreens after running the atheros 9285 - wlan for a few minutes. independent of the used browser or tool, that had access to the internet, bluescreens appeared.

obviously we fixed it with an update to a newer atheros-driver-version.

unfortunately, firefox versions 4 and 5 that we tested are very slow on the machine. this also happend before the update to the new atheros driver. if you type in letters, they will appear after a little latency of about half a second. loading-times are also a big problem, as it seems.
with internetexplorer 8 everything runs smooth, instead.

i didn't notice such a behaviour of firefox 4 / 5 on any computer so far (despite version 3.xx that was a bit buggy). but if you type " g73sw firefox slow" into google-search, many users already seem to have had similar problems with firefox and g73sw.
at asus-support they couldn't help me and didn't know the problem.

i really don't know, what might cause this, whether it is a simple driver issue, a conflict with a background process or comes from a problem with the hardware...
has anyone of you already had this problem as well, and fixed it with little effort, or will one have to try around with any new driver-version that is available? or might it come from certain background processes within win 7? might this be a issue with nvidia optimus? does anyone have an idea about this?

besides this, the machine looks very nice and everything seems to work fine. nice design, good manufacturing quality, one of the best matte-displays i've ever seen in a notebook so far...

    it's a G73SW-91105V with 3d-display. nvidia-drivers are the newest from the asus-page. running with win 7 hp 64 bit, 460m, 2 x 2 gb ram, 2 x 500gb/ 8gb ssd.

today the bluescreens occured again.update to the current atheros-driver couldn't solve them. it figured out, that it came from the zone alarm free-firewall. after uninstalling it, no more blue-screens.

the firefox-behaviour was solved by the current nvidia verde-driver. it was definitely caused by the nvidia-driver. when the 460m was deactivated in the device manager, firefox also worked fine again...

we also checked the system all-over-performance with dpc-latency-checker, and saw, that there still remained many red stripes between 4000 and 8000 my sec.
deactivating the nvidia-card brings green stripes again...

does anyone of you also have these red stripes with the current nvidia-driver? is there a solution for them to improve the performance?
