Hello all, I just got my g74sx notebook today. I power it up and notice i cant get a internet connectivity from my wifi. it connects to it, but then it keeps searching until it says that there is no internet connectivity. I updated the drivers and still nothing. I decided to put the ip and gateway manually in and it works. Anyone got any idea what i can do to fix it ?

Maybe it's a problem getting a DHCP lease from your router if you can associate over wifi but not get an IP and default gateway. Do you have other computers on your wireless network that work fine? What router do you have? Post more details and we may be able to help.

My other notebook connects and works fine,
the ps3, notebook and my phone gets internet as soon as i connect to it.

the router is a linksys wrt54g v6 and i have wifi capability on the dsl modem. I tried with both.

The g74 does the same when i connect the cable directly to the laptop. but works fine when i put the ip and gateway in manually.

Do you have any antivirus/antispyware, etc software running? Try disabling it.

Nope, the laptop is the same as i received it from amazon. I noticed it connects to the wifi and everything works ok if i use the quick-start boot or whatever its called. I'm going to try and uninstall the drivers and testing it tomorrow

Is your G74SX's computer name the same as your other notebook? If so, it may not be getting an IP due to a naming conflict on your network?

Nope, my computer name is g74sx ... and the other computer name is my gf name.. but it seems to be working fine now.... i don't know what was the cause

    windows did its automatic update
I removed the driver and windows re -installed it
i flashed the bios to 203
I downloaded the driver , but the one in device manager is ver 9.2.0.427 and was higher than the one i downloaded.

Dunno what was the cause but since its working now i am not messing with it anymore, just glad it works

Thanks all for the Replies :)
