i own an asus g series laptop w/ the ati mobility radeon hd 5870 graphics card.. it freezes sometimes, has started beeping? recently, and the screen completely glitches out to where i actually have to shut it on/off.

i've taken the computer apart and cleaned it out w/ a dust spray can.. can anyone help? i think i may just have to take it back to best buy. as i type it just happened again. :(

What are your CPU and GPU idle and load temperatures?

Are you getting bluescreens or lockups?

i apologize for being a bit of a newbie, i'm not sure where to find the temps.

they aren't blue screens, literally lockups. screen will either go completely black until i manually shut it off, or go striped. it happens while playing rift :p

You have a few choices, here are the most common:

Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring

GPU-Z Video card GPU Information Utility

CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

Have you ever updated your VBIOS? There is a VBIOS section in the sticky, most people I think are probably using Chastity's VBIOS these days (find it here).

If you have never updated your VBIOS or graphics drivers, that would be the place to start, as long as your temps are normal.
