Hi All. I have being away from PC for the last 3 years.

I just buy the G74sx-BBK8 from best buy. Greath Machine. Even for the reviews i read, still a good machine to play games. Beside the budget was very restricted.

But Since i use corporate systems, i need to instal the pro or ultimate 64bits

could someone can give me guides, without destroy the machine?

I find out that these asus, has the drivers on a file on the HDD: E-drivers. All are there, or i just go with asus websites.

    Best regards to all

    From Panama

    Use windows anytime upgrade?
For my ASUS n43jf-a1 I tried to do a clean install and happened that especially with ASUS SonicMaster Software, some asus software wasn't available to download, reverted to restoring to the recovery image..
Unless you are 100% sure that you dont need ANY asus' software, use Windows Anytime Upgrade?

Thanks cwongtech for the replay. It will be greath to have it all. Windows Anytime Upgrade is nice, but a clean install is a most. So I can use the 2 HDD in RAID 0. and have all for games and work.

The alternative is use the second HDD and start testing

Carlos, Welcome to the forum, none of the G74 series support hardware raid unfortunately. I agree a clean install is the best way to go.
This thread may be of help getting the latest drivers if you can not find them on the ASUS support site: G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference
(Note all links there may not be working now, but if your computer came with a driver disk it should have the vast majority of the necessary drivers to get you Win 7 pro install working properly).

All Windows Anytime Upgrade does is unlock features that are "hidden" in your existing installation. You can easily do a clean install with Home Premium, get your drivers set up, activate the OS, then run anytime upgrade. All that entails is typing in the upgrade product key, letting Windows do its thing (it should only take a few minutes on your machine), and rebooting. It's not an in-place upgrade where you have to insert a CD/DVD and run through an entire setup process.

Anytime upgrade will only work if you go from home premium to ultimate. For some reason i still don't understand, if you want to go HP->Pro, you need to do a "clean update".

Oh, yeah, i was thinking Vista HP to 7 Pro, microsoft's upgrade paths are somewhat crazy sometimes. Disregard my previous post. Been running 7 on all my machines for so long that i forgot i upgraded from Vista HP to Pro instead of 7 HP to Pro...
