I would go for the Razer, as it looks nicer for me (and fits to the G73 ;] )

As for performance, both mice are very similar looking at the specs. Razer has little more DPI, but that's often miselading, as most of the time you don't use that high DPI anyway (I'm guessing its primary use will be gaming).

If the adjustable weight of the mouse is important for you then then Logitech might be a better choice, plus you can pend $16 on some mat (eg: Razer Goliathus)

ah cool thanks i was leaning towards the g500 after i learned that the razer in question reported has been coming with some "z-axis" issues. prolly its fits the g73 a little bit too much lol

but yes i really like your second option.

LogiTech MX518. It's cheap. Durable. Accurate. Comfortable.

I have Logitech G500 and G5. Both are very nice mice.
The only complain I have is that the wheel on G500 is little bit too sensitive. It has a switchable Hyper-fast scrolling wheel. Even when the Hyper-fast scrolling is not switched ON the wheel is very sensitive.
In the beginning I always had problems with weapon switching in the games like COD, but after some time I got used to it.
The trick is that one has to do a very slow rotation otherwise you pick up the wrong weapon all the time.
In this regard the G5 is better. The wheel is very sturdy.

well i do play cod a lot so that is some good info. ok mainly for games i would be player racers, fps and rpg/strategy based games.

graphic and development wise i am looking at photoshop, blender, visual c++ (scrolling through code), flash apps, etc. hence my interest in switchable dpi and laser tracker.

but i am either blind (compusa where i most likely be going to) or something but i dont see the g5 on their site i will check again to make sure, i will check over the mx518. thanks again for the help :D

Happy G500 owner here, for my desktop. For the G73 I use the Performance MX Darkfield mouse.

Between the 2, I'd go with the Razer Imperator.

Have you looked into the G9x? I've really liked some of the MX series in the past but I absolutely love my G9x... 5000 dpi, custom LED colors, very comfortable and somewhat angular, suits the G73 really well imo.

If I had to choose between the two you posted, I'd probably go with the razer

oh that was the first mouse my brother bought...its lasting amazingly long and still works very well, he has had it for 7+ years.

edit: the button placement was what i loved the most about it, more mice need to be made as comfortable and long lasting as that one :p

I have the G5 and love it. I like long mice.

(so G500 i'd say) I don't know how long the imperator is

Well, I'm assuming you're choosing an external mouse for gaming, in which case, the specs are slightly better on the Razer. A trade off of 100 DPI for a 20G gain in acceleration and 35"/second seems like a good deal in my books.

I'm with the guy who recommended the MX518, that is a classic and great gaming mouse.

At the moment i'm using an OCZ Equalaser which is even cheaper but just as good, and more sensitive with DPI

I can also say Razer makes high quality products. I have a Razer keyboard and never knew what a difference there was in keyboard quality until I got one. Once you get any of those, you'll never have to get another one again... unless you break it.

I use the venerable MX518. Super-super durable and splendid performance. And definitely matches the all black G73.

So good I even got my mum one. True story.

people are exaggerating the dpi. it's all a gimmick like the megapixels m the ghz and the bits (people still don't understand that more ghz or more megapixels does not make a processor/camera better, but if they think they do they all buy it)
