Does anybody knows where the second RAM slot is located for the i5 G53 version? The slot under the keyboard is disabled (is not soldered) for the i5 version.

Im getting my 2x 4GB kit tomorrow and I have, as you can see, a real problem :(

    Thank you in advance!

I'm almost sure that there's only 2 dimm slots and those are the ones on the back.

The i5 is a considerably watered down version compared to the i7 one.

On the back, there is only 1 ram slot, located above the hdd bays. The i7 has 2 slots there but not the i5. Im lost :(

In that case, the second ram slot should be right under the ramslot under the keyboard. You have to take off the top section in order to get to it.

The g53jw is even harder to disassemble than it's JH predecessor.

    1) You've already removed the keyboard and palm rest so that's already some work done.

    2) Remove the black covering behind the monitor by removing the screws located where the battery is.

    3) after you've removed the backing, then remove the monitor by taking out the screws located at the base of the monitor. Be sure to disconnect the monitor/wireless connections before moving the monitor.

    4) There are two tabs on either side of where the monitor originally was. Remove the tabs, and remove the screws below them.

    5) After that, it's pretty much just the removal of other screws under the keyboard and connections. GENTLY pry up on the top plastic section.

    How did this upgrade workout?

I saw pictures of people who had attached memory in the DIMM slot under the keyboard, it does not look the same on mine.

On my keyboard it lacks the "hooks" which are supposed to be on both sides of the RAM memory holding it in place.

Are you sure this works? On other threads they claim this slot is missing.
