k,hey guys
im trading my core i7 920 desktop with a gtx 465 for a g73jh, im comfrotable with the trade i know it is a downgrade but i want gaming on the go, he said he has had it for less then a year, is there anything i should know or look out for with this model? especially when im at starbucks checking it out? those of you that have one how does it hold up with current games like sc2 and bad company?

BFBC2 - no problems
SC2 - a notch below everything ultra
check for physical damage obviously
dead/stuck pixels
idle and load temps
battery wear levels
well that's from the top of my head..
Edit : Hwinfo for the monitoring and furmark+prime95 for stress testing in case you didnt already know.. -
k it is an x3 model if that matters, what does that mean anyway? and what should my idle and load temps be i am going to be taking a usb flash drive with hwinfo and prime95 on it
-
well if its an X3 note that you'll be getting 2x320 gb HDDs instead of the 2x500gb on the A1and A2
dont forget to take furmark(to stress the gpu) too..
idle should be below 54-55 if its good (ideally <50) for the gpu
48-52 for the cpu
Load on the gpu shouldnt cross 90 after about 2-3 mins of furmark(ideally 80), if it does its either dust in the vents or that this machine will need a repaste if you get it.. Still go ahead and get it if you're comfortable with disassembling your machine to repaste. (which is not all that difficult and plenty of guides available on the forum.) Alternatively i believe some resellers and ASUS service centres also offer profession repast jobs but not too sure about that
load on the cpu should be 76-78 after 2-3 mins of full load in prime95
Edit: if the temps are very high you could ask the guy who's trading to clean it with compressed air or repaste it himself (depending on what's causing the problem) if you wanna minimize risk -
also, use GPU-Z to check his vBIOS version and if it's not
012.020.000.032.038352 or in the BIOS:
012.020.000.032.0383.G730
then he's probably selling it because his machine is locking up with GSOD's on new drivers and he doesn't know about fixing it with a vBIOS flash. -
