title says it all! that is my question! because I'm planning to upgrade the GPU manually later! so this one isn't better than G73?

GPU is built into the motherboard, not MXM, not going to be possible on the G74. It is supposed to be possible on the G73 though.

Are you talking about the 560m 128bit? If so, yeah it seems your stuck with it unless you you take the mb out of another G74 model with the 192bit and put it in yours, but that would be pointless due to the cost.

wow even the 192 bit is not MXM?

anyway cost for upgrading is no the issue here! the issue is the post warranty services! I do plan to fix stuff myself after the warranty is out! my old HP DV1000 made me learn my lesson :(

Not really useful unless you connect to a monitor but you could purchase a ViDock. With this you could buy a high end card and use it with your G74,but kinda makes mobility a hassle.

Only issue with the G74 is the embedded graphics chip, if it dies you will need a new motherboard or someone who is very talented to replace the chip.

The problem with the ViDock is its express card slot connection which the G74 doesn't have, you would need an adapter for the connection.

That is true, I apologize I forgot about the express slot connection. Any type of adapter ( mainly USB) would serious bottleneck the device, so it would be rendered pretty useless. I guess its reasons like this that makes the industry want to standardize pc gaming. There really is no reason why a good gaming laptop should cost a arm and a leg and if it does its internals should be swappable ie: Graphics card. It is Just a miniature version of a desktop card in theory right? Should be made to pop in and out like a laptop optical drive or like a server's hot swappable drive.
