well i know it isnt bricked but he sure is in a hell of pain at least for me. i unninstalled all ati software and installed the stock drivers and there were no gsod's and the computer was working great. but i had to work and i needed to use maya wich doesnt work in the stock drivers so i tried using the 10.8 just to see how they worked. well it was going great i was rendering some stuff and watching a movie when the screen went black with a repeatign sound pattern wich for anyone with gsod's wouldnt worry them much and that's what i thought. i restarted the pc and when i loged on windows and my wallpaper appeared the windows just froze it had happened before so i didn't pannic, i restarted again and it froze again this time just after pressing enter in the logon screen i still didnt worry it was common for me that whenever a gsod ocurred the laptop would freeze at least two times. but now that i restearted the computer about 10 times it is still freezing and there was this time it went fatal error on me. now when it enters windows i have to start manually the explorer and i fixed this by activating the hidden admin account by inserting in safe mode (net user administrator /active:yes) in the command prompt. now using this account the explorer begins normally but it still freezes every time after some time. i tried unninstaling the driver's but it just keeps freezing, i noticed that the normal processes that start right away were missing like msn, windows care, etc...

try to disable the touchpad on bios..
that worked for me.. -
I would do a windows repair..... it may or may not take a while.

Laptop isn't dead, follow steps below:
1) Log into safe mode with networking.
2) Uninstall all ATI drivers and software.
3) Run driver sweeper to remove left over ATI drivers/peices.
4) restart PC into normal mode and apply the video drivers on asus website.
The reason 10.8 drivers don't work well is because the asus vbios is a joke. I suggest installing the MSI vBios until asus fixes the issue. You will lose vga out and hdmi, but you'll get rid of the crappy video performance.
However to fix your issue just make sure you run driver sweeper to get rid of it completly then go back to stock.
The windows stuff might have happened from the constant crashes, windows repair or reformatting should fix that. -
Be very careful using a non-ASUS vBIOS - I would suggest just waiting for ASUS to release their vBIOS that has been tested and approved for the G73.
There is a possibility you could BRICK your G73 with a non-ASUS vBIOS.
Just a warning..

You run the risk of bricking it regardless of the vBios.
However, if you are trying to flash with the MSI or Clevo vbios and you brick it, your warranty will likely be voided. -
yes. I was very wary of even flashing the msi bios but I was frusterated at how quickly it gsod'd that I just decided to go ahead and do it. I feel like my luck might not be so good next time, even if asus does release their own official fix, so I am really contemplating just staying with this one for the remainder of the time that I have this laptop, considering I don't really use HDMI out at all.

I've flashed my vBios twice and my bios twice and haven't bricked it. I wouldn't be TOO concerned as long as you know what you're doing.
is my asus g73 Dead? (very urgent)
