I'm planning on selling my g53sw-a1 within the next couple weeks and I'm unsure of how to wipe my hdd while keeping the os intact. I do not have a backup disc of the os unfortunately, so I'm really not sure what to do.

You can use the recovery partition to restore back to factory default then wipe the empty space. Or wipe everything but the recovery and then use the recovery partition. Make sure not to wipe the recovery partition of course so tools like dban probably won't work since they don't allow you to wipe per partition i think.

I don't seem to have a recovery partition-- the only visible drives are my C: and D: drives.

edit: I found it hidden under computer management-- not quite sure what to do from there though.; it also appears to empty.. shows 100% free space.

IRLS try pressing F9 shortly after power on. If the recovery partition is working you can restore to factory specs _ and all your user files will be gone so back them up to an external drive first!
