ok im at my witts end with this silly uncontrollable mouse pad ..how on earth did this pass into the public ..ASUS YOU really have let your self down with this in my eyes ..i will not buy another product from your company ...i have never come across a useless bit of hardware than this mouse pad...clean your hands before use ect ..please give me a break ..if its that bad ..should of never been released... seeing all the complaints about it i hope you have sorted it out ..i have the latest bios 211..and it still is uncontrollable ..very frustrating indeed...
-
Have you tried the new Beta BIOS? It helps.
-
I have 209 BIOS and it workes flawlessly now.
Go to task manager and end process of Syntphelper.exe
Right click on SyntpEnh.exe and choose 'open file location'
cut 'Syntphelper.exe' and paste it anywhere else as a backup.
problem solved. -
Did you lose any functionality?
-
nope. I did disable a bunch of TP features though. The only thing i had enabled was vertical scrolling.
I have a backup of Syntphelper.exe but its been 8 hrs and no issues/errors. Longer time w/o issues prior to that, but i hadnt deleted Syntphelper.exe then. -
It is not the Synaptics drivers... It even freaks out for a lot of us (me included) when you run the Microsoft default driver.
So, all of this BS pointing to Synaptics is just subterfuge. Fact of the matter is without thier software it still freaks, so what do you think Synaptics will do when they get all the diagnostics that show it is a physical hardware issue on Asus' end of things? They are going to tell Asus to fix the hardware.
And you can't tell me thy don't have enough machines in RMA to figure this out already and collect all the data they need without us end users doing it for them. They are just buying themselves time and playing games. -
Not gona say you're wrong, but have you at least tried what i proposed? Its risk free as you make a backup. But aside from that, all im gonna say is, i used to get the issue at least 5-10 mins at a time. Now its been a little under 48hrs and i mustve gamed about 10 hrs and 10-15hrs just browsing and stuff. No issues since. Of course if something comes up, ill post it. But for now, what i mentioned stabilized it for me.

My touchpad seems to randomly open up something I never tried to open from time to time. Even with Syntphelper.exe terminated.
-
Just tried it, touchpad is very responsive, but I lost vertical scrolling
-
thats weird. Syntphelper.exe has nothing to do with scrolling functions...at least its safe to assume as mine vert scroll still works and has been for about 72 hrs now. no hiccups or unresponsiveness. Just to double check, Go to Control Panel > Hardware > Mouse > Device Settings tab > highlight Touchpad driver and click on Settings. Go through that until you find vert and hor scroll and make sure they are enabled.
Just an update; Ive rebooted the g73 2x today. With Syntphelper.exe disabled..I really think this did it for me..and w/o having to end process after every reboot/sleep. I think this might have been a permanent fix for my rig.
72 hours and counting..compared to 10 mins of hell per hr.
Are you just terminating Syntphelper.exe throughout Task Manager or did you remove the actual Syntphelper.exe from the Synaps directory?
You should delete it (back it up) because if you only terminate it via Task Manger, it will start up again auto within 5-10 minutes.
not sure if it matters but i have synaps drivers version 15.1.9.0 -
So far so good, I uninstalled the old drivers and Im using 15.1.9.0 with two finger scrolling
-
Yeah you should always update everything before you make your final impression
