Hey everyone. I decided to make a post as I have been to this site for a long time now reading everything there is to know about the asus g73 jh because my asus g73 jh does not obey. I have been trying to find a solution for a month and a half now and still I couldn't find anything. I decided to give this forum one last shot before I decide to RMA my laptop. Btw my laptop is a asus G73 jh; I7 -720QM; ATI Radeon 5870.
The problems that I have currently are: no keyboard light; it takes 2-3 minutes to boot my g73 laptop (from when I turn on the computer to when the ASUS logo appears); intel(R) management engine interface problem is not connected; and my main concern: an occasional automatic temperature shut downs at least 3 times a day.
First of all, i would mention that I have no idea how to post images directly so instead I post them as attachments. I have bios 211, catalyst control system 11.2, and use vbios from hellcry (thanks hellcry). As attachments, I have posted what I have from hwmonitor. From my hwmonitor, it says my motherboard is a constant 102 degrees Celsius. However, I am absolutely positive that my motherboard cannot run that hot as I added Arctic silver all over the laptop and my left fan is blowing cool air while my right fan is blowing semi-cool air. My computer would automatically shut down at completely random times and what I mean by that is the computer just turns off without warning, without any gsod or bsod. And whenever I turn it back on, I have a safe mode option and a 2-3 minute load time till when the windows logo pops up. This is really irritating when I am playing games such as Fallout 3 or Starcraft as gaming is one of the main reasons I am buying such an expensive laptop. Because I know it is a temp check issue, I was wondering if it is possible to disable the sensors of the temp check or maybe disable the temperature shut down completely. Remember, my computer runs REALLY REALLY cool so I am sure that the motherboard or any other parts will not break.![]()
As for the booting issue, I couldn't find a single thread for this but any tips or advice on this will be greatly appreciated. I have tried the Gary Key's method in fixing the keyboard lights to no avail. I tried uninstall and reinstall the ATK program as well as following with the fixmykb method. I already read numerous forums from this site and others; These are the best ones I have seen:

Btw I hate the fact that the BIOS 211 have so little options. I wish you could just control all cpu and gpu temperatures there. So yeah, if anybody here requires any more info and can help me with my situation, I will be indebt to you. Thanks!

when did all these problems begin? I'm assuming you re-pasted the laptop, did that changed anything maybe for the worst? prob. keyb got damaged or its not plugged right from the repaste.
Sounds like there is more than one issue here... on the loading times 2-3 min is just not right. why not do a clean install see if that fixes that.
If that don't do anything. well, then maybe give asus a call and ask for a RMA. -

Have you done doing a fresh install of the Windows7 OS? Doing so might help you out. Be sure that after you re-install Windows7, make a recovery disk via the AI Recovery Burner of Asus so that rolling-back to factory state will be much easier. Regarding your long boot time, it might be the case that you need to defrag your hard drive.
It would be great if you would use HWiNFO32 rather than HWmonitor because of its reliability. -
"Arctic Silver all over my laptop" Wait, did you really? That means you shorted out everything as Arctic Silver has traces of silver in it and they're conductive. If you put it anywhere other than the HSF, you'll short things out.

I agree with frosty, How did you exactly use your thermal paste?

I'd recommend making sure there's no dust in the vents, and check whether you connected all cables correctly when applying the paste (wheresoever you put it) Trying a clean install is definitely a good idea. Make sure to not install all the unnecessary Asus stuff or at least remove these programs after installing the useful things. -
"Using Hellcry's vBIOS" is either a modded stock vBIOS pre-beta final, or using MSI vBIOS. Either is not suggested.

First try resetting your bios to user defaults. If that doesn't fix the delay then I would recommend taking your hard drive(s) out and trying a livecd like ubuntu or a liveusb (with unetbootin). If the delay persists you probably have a hardware problem. If not try putting one hard disk back at a time and see if the problem comes back.
