my g51vx-rx05( gigabit lan?)

just got mine though ebay, seems to be bit different then specs, only 1 thing is different though.

all spec pages etc online show, this model only comes with 100m lan, though i plugged it in last night, i was copying at 60mbs(max of the drive) though the lan and says i have realtek gigabit adapter.

is it just spelling mistake on the websites? Or did i just get lucky.

my motherboard rev show g60vx on the code, sticker that's on the ram.

the g60vx mobo revision still cant take quads right?

 

G50 had a gigabit adapter last i checked and the G51 should have followed. The G60 and G51 share a chassis and many parts excluding gpu heatsink and a couple of things.

Remember without a gigabit switch or crossing over (mdi-x works as well) to a machine with gigabit you wont get that sort of connection speeds.

From what was determined on the G51 (and susbsequently the G60 I assume) between a best buy G51 owner with a Q9300 and GenTechPC the machines are not compatible even flashing the bios from a reseller quad toting model didnt do anything for it.

will try to get mac cpu locally, or import e8235 2.8ghz, mac cpu's seems to run fine and so much cheaper then normal ones.

though trying to convince my bud so i can try hes q9000 from hes msi gt 627, to make sure.

 

To be honest unless you could overclock the heck out of a qx9300 the quad wont be worth it with only a few exceptions. I would love to have a quad in my G50 but in several games the drop in clock rate would kill me and only benefit in about 3 i have.

The mac cpu is gonna make your current gpu temps look like a joke. When i went from 25 watt to 35 watt it was noticeable off to 44 watt forget about it i know those 260's heat up bad. T9600's run like 100 bucks these days can go that way and a little bus clocking if you want.

 

yeah thinking of doing cooling mod etc, i will see how it goes.

bc2 seems to play ok 20-30 fps depending on location.

so far i got to 2.65 ghz played bc2 at that.(keeping at 2.5ghz for 24/7)

max cpu is 58c

gpu max is 90c

still need to test blackops, seems steam don't like to be copied and pasted, my blackops will just quit when it tries to load a map, so i am re downloading it.

 

Yeah at 3.1ghz versus 2.8 i get up to 10 fps more due to the cpu load effecting the gpu waiting for render instructions etc. I get 30 to 60 fps with settings down a bit at 1366x768 but still playable at all high 1xaa on my 9800m. A quad core would take care of that game for sure. Whatever load its not using you sometimes find punkbuster eating the rest lol. Hbao off for the win btw it eats up power even on decent desktop cards.

 

nice fps boost, seems t9550 might be in my budget, and should OC to 3ghz also, probably get one of those if cant find anything locally.

Live in south africa, so hard to get hold of it, i think i am probably 1 of few , if not the only 1 in the country with g51v-rx05 as we only get -a1 laptops to the country, and they insane expensive.

Somewhere around 3.0 Ghz Bad Company 2 is fine on the core 2 duo by itself. Its when other applications including the connected punkbuster needed for online play start using up to 30% start causing the game to lag again. At 3.1 I usually see 80 to 95% usage by BC2 so even 2.8/2.9 Ghz from your position wouldnt be a bad improvement.

A Q9000 with a slight push on the bus clock might work good for that game too. But some of your older games and single/dual threaded applications will suffer. But if you got one coming your way soon it cant hurt to try.

 

thanx dude got p8400 today running it at 2.8ghz on bc2( i dont the think turbo mode goes on because it uses both cores ,with the mini turbo it goes to 2.973ghz, when it uses 1 core).

bc2 feels much smoother now, though cpu temp max 66c over the 54c of the p7350 and gpu max 92c
