so im trying to restore my g53jw laptop. i had created the 5 recovery restore disks from ai recovery restore which im pretty sure restores the recovery partition to the hard drive. when i check in diskpart it shows that the recovery partitition is there but i have no idea how to access it and let it restore my laptop back to OEM settings.

after the 5 disks did their thing the computer starts up windows animation starts and all i get is this grey wallpaper background which is the same background used when restoring with the 5 disks. i can move around the cursor but nothing is on the screen.

am i doing something wrong? how do i restore from the recovery partition?

Ugh I cannot for the life of me remember which FN key it is, but my guess would be F9...or F8 at startup

Yeah it's F9 for the Asus recovery.
Assuming that your recovery partition is intact and undamaged you should just be able to use F9 at the first boot screen and go from there and not have to use the recovery DVD's.

I never used the recovery partition on the G73 but I did do it years ago on a G1S and it was easy you press F9 at the right time and then select windows OS and follow the wizard.

As far as your problem with the grey screen make sure that you are not still booting off of the recovery DVDs.
