I was running 'canyourinit.com' just for fun and i was shocked when it said i only have 2.9gb ram.
I checked on the System window and i was relieved that when i saw 8.0gb physical ram, but it still says only 2.9 is available...
whats going on??????
how can i fix this????
my window 7 is only 2days old since reinstall and im running fresh with just drivers installed from oem cd.
HELP me experts!!!

Are you running a 32-bit version of W7?
-
nope im running x86...
-
That's 32 bit.
-
I think the proper question is. Are you using Firefox? Internet Explorer (32bit version), or Google Chrome? Basically any browser that is not "Internet Explorer(64bit)". This will result in the website reporting your RAM as 2.9GB, as the browser is 32bit and thereby cannot access the extra memory you have.
-
If you reinstalled with x86 Windows 7, then you'll be limited in the amount of RAM that your system can use. Fix: reinstall using x64 Windows 7
-
I thought original Win7 that was already installed on this machine was x86? not x64.. am i wrong? is there any alt. way other than reinstalling? *sobs*
reason is.. the verizon 4g usb modem that im using doesnt support x64.. i dont know why but they dont have driver for it...... -
Go to Control Panel -> System and it will say if you have 32 or 64-Bit W7.
-
The G73 series ships with Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. What model of 4G modem do you have?
-
i have Verizon 4g Pantech USB
((( reinstalling right now with x64
Do u guys think driver for XP would work? -
Every 32 bit software is compatible with the 64 bit version of windows, so no problems with the 32-bit windows 7 drivers.
...otherwise I wouldn't be able to play a single game on my system
-
The Verizon Pantech UML290 4G USB Modem supports the following OS:
- Windows Vista (32/64bit) (SP2)
- Windows XP (32bit) (SP3)
- Windows 7 (32/64bit)
So, it should work
-
@svl7 you are right with your post 'till the coma, but not after that
-
There is a difference between how drivers and programs are handled. Drivers must be 64-bit on 64-bit systems, but programs can be 32-bit.

What yo mean by x86 ... if I am not wrong the x86 is specific to Intel processors. Your windows os needs to be 64 bit in order to use the full memory addressing ability which is limited in 32 bit of windows os version(around 3gb)
Do a right click on my computer > select properties.
In next screen under System -> it tells you system type which should be 64 bit in order to fully utilize any ram more than 3gb. What does it says? -
Yes, of course.... lol, sorry, my bad.
I guess I was absent-minded... thanks guys.
only 2.9gb available memory????
