    pretty happy about the G74. a few concerns though.. suggestions??

    So i bought the G74sx xc1 from Newegg on Black friday deal.
    every thing's pretty much as described.

    the touchpad on this one causes cursor to fly sometimes but really rare.
    But I do occasionally hit the left button though, which cause me to shoot
    while driving in GTA IV..... but it's minor


    my concern is when I play GTA IV the fan continuously blow out air that's quite
    hot if you put your hand near it. Do any of you guys play GTA 4 and the 560m is
    hot like that??


    Also , my 'page up' gets sticky sometimes and doesn't come back up when pushed down
    occasionally.

    just wondering whether it's worth a replacement(or i'm making a big deal out of it?)

    I mean replacement because of the keyboard issue, the graphics card will get hot, that I do know of.
    the other keys seems ok and responsive so far.

    Have you run something like HW Monitor to see what the temps are? The machine will get warm while under full load and blow out the warm air as part of the cooling, but without temperature readings it's hard to say if anything is wrong. As for the stuck key, you can look into replacing the keyboard but it's a matter of how much you think you will use that page up key. :)

    I would send it back in regarding the PGUP key. That sounds like a defect to me. I use PGUP a lot, it's convenient.

    Yeah the XC1 is targetted at the canadian market.. and its a crazy bargain! Hey rainstorm, what do you think of the monitor? Did it wow you at all?

    And about the heat issue, I hear that GTA is pretty poorly ported to the PC so it could be making the GPU work harder than usual. You should look up the actual GPU and CPU temperatures using some software. Grats on your purchase!

    Regarding the touchpad, flash up to BIOS 203 and it should not be a problem anymore.

    I can only wonder how it was targetted at the canadian market -- I haven't gotten any system messages ending with 'eh?' yet.

    The screen is nice colorwise, but it is glossy in a most super-glossy way.
