I've had my Asus G73JH for about 4 months now and have just started having problems with the Fn keys. For example, I'll press Fn+F11 to turn the volume down and it'll turn the volume down a few clicks but then the command stops working (volume stops getting lower). About 20 seconds later the volume down picture will appear in the middle of the screen (without pressing any Fn commands) and turn the volume down. This happens on all the Fn commands, not just the volume. Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated.

If you have not already tried to reinstall the ATK package, I would start there. I think the is an updated package on their web site. It would be best to remove the old one first, the grab then newer one from here:

thnx, I tried to install a newer ATK driver, but my computer keeps installing some driver by microsoft called ps/2 keyboard before i can install the ATK driver. The keyboard works at the moment, but the driver is from 2006 and it says "microsoft has determined your driver software is up to date". <microsoft and windows is retarded

There's also a Keyboard driver 1.03 on the Asus site as well

I think you might be trying to replace the wrong driver. The package I have handy on my hard drive is labeled "ATKPackage_XP32_Vista_Win7_100001". That may not be the right revision but it will be something similar. It sounds like you are replacing the keyboard filter driver. The ATK Package contains the On Screen Display and the actual functions for volume, keyboard backlighting, and so on. It sounds like your ATK software is getting hung up somehow. It has a couple of services that run all the time that are necessary for it to work correctly.
The other possibility is that your machine is sluggish due to some malware or misbehaving program. If that were the case, everything would be sluggish not just the OSD for your volume control.
I would link you directly to the package you need but I don't think that works with Asus website. Go to the support web site and do a search for ATK and it should pop up in the results. I believe if you drill down to the G73 model it is also in the normal list.
I hope that helps. -
The thing is a bit sluggish, but anything more than half a second of delay usually means malware or outdated drivers.

You guys realize I have 1.0.0007 on my driver page, right? It's right below the keyboard driver package.
