    I have a G73JW with 2.67GHz processor, GTX M460 graphics card, 4GB RAM and windows 7 64 bit.

The problem is whenever i want to play a movie in any player (VLC, media player etc) or there's a cinematic in a game. When I run the game it's completely smooth, even in the highest settings, but intro movies and cinematics not run in the game graphics engine it stutters every few seconds and there's a delay in the sound.

    Can anyone offer a solution?

I would recommend checking your system for DPC Latency with DPC Latency Checker.

You might also try running ThrottleStop to eliminate the possibility of CPU throttling or the CPU low power mode C-States.as the cause of your issue.

Do any of the Events that appear in the Windows System or Application Event Logs point to a troubleshooting direction?

Unfortunately neither made any difference, but I have noticed that the HDD lights up just before every stutter in the prerendered videos. Normally it just barely flashes once every second.

Could this be a HDD issue?

How long have you owned this laptop?

Are you currently running the firmware update SD25? If not, I'd give it a shot to see if it resolves your issue.

But I also recommend contacting Seagate technical support to open a case and see what they propose.

Looks like you're beyond a return date. I recommend:

    1) Check the Google hits link I referenced previously to see if there are any other recommendations.

    2) Search the Seagate forum for additional recommendations. Consider posting your issue there.

    3) Contact Seagate Technical Support.

    4) Review your System and Application Event Logs for Errors or Warning Events that may point to a troubleshooting direction.

    5) Check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...erformance-tip-amd-gpu-users-stutter-lag.html

    6) You never reslly discussed your DPC Latency Checker results or described how you configured ThrottleStop, so I'm unsure if they can really be eliminated as potential solutions or workarounds.
