Stop moving the back of your palm across the touch pad. Or disable the touch pad with Fn+F9.

It's either that or you have a faulty touchpad. In any case, you shouldn't use the palmrest when you type, it might be advertised as ergonomic, but it isn't. You're supposed to type in a position similar to piano so your wrists aren't angled upwards. That way you won't touch the touchpad and you should also avoid potential problems from a bad typing position.

The brute force and expensive solution would also fix this, buy an external keyboard :p. Get a sturdy keyboard so it can take abuse from your touchpad related frustration :p.

External keyboard can work, but it pushes the screen back an extra 9-12". I prefer the screen up closer. And yes, I do have an external monitor, but... :D

Make sure you have the ATK package installed. You can download it from http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/583215-g73sw-g53sw-latest-drivers-everything-you-need-fresh-install.html. Check out point 3.5. That'll help restore all the fns. And also make sure you have the touchpad drivers installed.
