cheers......
No intentions just a normal user who likes his laptop to be as cool as possible..thx

GPU Utilization 60.8% ?? Pffffff....... Everybody with a properly applied decent TIM would get the temperatures you are getting keph. So, either run a proper furmark test or dream on buddy. No way your Tunix paste would beat my Coollaboratory Liquid Pro, or any decent TIM by 10 degrees. Unless you change the heatsink and/or fan/fan-speed.
You must have shares in Tunix or something mate
Period -
I have to agree. 60.8% load is not a stress test. Please redo the test showing 98% or better.
EDIT: Come to think of it, 68C @ 60.8% load actually isn't very good at all. -
I have no idea why people are even arguing over this...
-
Keph stated that he uses the NZXT Cryo cooler, that is a pretty beefy laptop cooler and looking around at tests done with that, people have stated on load it drops their temps by 10C. So if you add 10C to his temps plus factor in ambient his temps would be right around where ours are.

I'm afraid of LiquidPro, I've read some info that LiquidPro can be corrosive to CPU/GPU cores. Liquid metal has been well documented to be corrosive.
- I'm not saying LiquidPro will ruin your GPU. But personally, I'll stick to something I can be sure of ;p -
No more to say i did the test again (3times to get the stable temps)..GPU 99%
-
As said in the other thread, you will never never ever convince me TX-4 is 10C cooler than ICD7.
-
and btw stop thinking that im working for tuniq or whatever the fact is im 23 and studying chinese language in beijing for a year and will go back to my country (HongKong) in 4 months..
thx -
I figured it out
If I resize the Furmark to the same size as yours. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT YOUR MAX FPS IS 20 AND MINE IS 72?
- To get the same results as yourself, I had to manually downclock to 250/800 in 3D mode.
- BTW my temp was 61C.
Printscreen just like you

@ keph:
1) can you host a higher res image so we can read it?
2) what drivers are you using?
3) we also need a GPU-Z screen to verify gpu and vbios version
EDIT: using my truck's Air Conditioning unit in lieu of not having a 140mm fan cooler, I managed 70C. (drive airflow about 21C) So if you use a big air cooler like that in conjunction with blowing an AC on it, yeah, you can hit 67C. Or you can run it in the freezer. -
1.its there..
2.im using 10.8 driver..without no mods..
3.as u can see its there in furmark all written..and the bios im using is the 211(u can also see that in my screen shot..) and the vbios is 012.017.000.004.035992..
if u really need all of this to start again ill post the whole thing tomorrow..
thx.. -
What's bugging me is that if you are on stock vBIOS, with 10.8, how come your GPU is not being identified as "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series" like everyone else on 10.8? Yours says "HD 5870" which is what the stock and 10.1 drivers identify as.

Why are you not running furmark with extreme burn mode in full screen at natvie 1080P? Max res = more memory usage = more heat amiright?
I always run with furmark maxed + 4XAA and hit around 85C max.. -
He mentioned he was using xtreme burnin, he just isn't using PostFX
-
Why does anyone care so much? Let him be lame, leave it alone already.
-
I posted this in the other thread Keph and ziddy were fighting in...it may explain some things...: LOOK HERE. Furmark and HWInfo Montor are both showing the tss0 temp...while my tss1 temp is obviously higher.
-
Sabre-shin that's just you. For the rest of us, HWinfo shows the same readings as Furmark and AMD GPU tool
-
I haven't seen any of Keph's pics with AMD GPU Tool on them so this made sense to me. Just thought I'd try and help solve this.
-
Why is it only showing TSS0?
I downloaded HWMonitor 1.16 and got these results:
http://pcaudio.ath.cx/crap/furmark5.jpg
I wonder if an older HWMonitor is messing up "Chip Temp" to only read TSS0? Or is it an older driver set? -
Nice Goatse interpretation you've got there
WAit Let me get this straight you can do that in Dragon Age?
BRB Installing now. -
That's not pron silly!
-
Can you do that in game?
I am kinda used to RPGs where you play a single characters, I remember even in Dungeon Siege I used to like soloing... -
EDIT.i add this to the C7103697.inf (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870" = ati2mtag_Manhattan, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68A0&SUBSYS_1C021043)..same like ziddy's 10.9a modded driver but i still use 10.8 and just added the device id..
after that you will also get the ATI Mobility Radeon 5870M everwhere where it used to be 5800 Series... -

Part deux, After the RMA my CPU started overheating this time, going as far as 93 degress
my GPU eventually got as far as 98
I've redone both the GPU and CPU.
The GPU seems to be a success idling as 60 degrees, playted L4D 2 got max 85 (memIO)
as for the CPU I am not sure, it seems to idle pretty high (at ~70) but It doesn't seem to go higher than 85, so I can say it was a success as well (partial), maybe I didn't correctly paste it, or I let some air when putting the heatskink
BTW if you are very careful you can repaste the CPU without breaking the seal, or not breaking it completely/making it unnoticeable
after the repaste, I didn't connect well the touchpad, and didn't get leds lights (put the cable upside down, all fixed)
I do have some slight problems, first the caps lock works, but the light is always on, and second pressing the first upper left button (to control the lights) activates or deactivates at random at times turbo mode, while turbo mode button does not work. -
I've repasted mine twice... first time my highest temp I reached was 86 C on the MemIO. Repasted again and without the paste being cured I got 83 C max. that's with AS5.

Do you guys have any idea if it's possible to fix the Speakers Cable that went loose?
I had the same problem and only one speaker is working.
Do you think a computer shop would be able to weld the cable back on the MOBO?
thx! -

I just did my repaste today. Repasted the 920XM which I installed about a month ago as well as doing a repaste on the GPU which hadn't been touched since I got the G73 about 9 months ago.
Previous idle temps: High 60s - Low 70s
Previous load temps: CPU under Prime95 couldn't run for more than 20 seconds without getting to 100 degrees. GPU running something graphic intensive like a particle heavy raidboss in WoW would get up to 100 degrees also... sometimes over and cause the laptop to crash or shutdown.
Used Arctic Silver 5 on both CPU (line method) and GPU (dot method) and blew some air through the vents.
Current idle temp: CPU - 47 GPU - 53
Load temps: CPU - <80 (Prime95 / FAH) GPU - <85 (Crysis / Furmark / FAH-gpu)
When I installed the 920XM a month ago I used the spread method which evidently was not good. I suspect I went slightly heavy on the paste also. Using the line method this time certainly seemed to work a treat.
The GPU was atrociously badly pasted. I couldn't believe it when I pulled the heatsink away. It was caked on so thick and so unevenly it's hardly a surprise at all that I was getting such bad heat problems with it. Was an absolute pain to clean also... took a lot of white alcohol and some bits had to be chiselled off which I was loathe to do because I didn't want to put any flaws into the surface of the heatsink.
Anyway, didn't want to create a whole new post about repasting since this one was here... just wanted to throw in my 2 cents that repasting and cleaning out the fan ducts is pretty much the best thing you can do for a G73 that's overheating... I was skeptical about how much it would help but it's been amazing. It's led to a large performance increase too as neither processing unit is throttling to keep itself within tolerable heat limits.
