hi guys, im using g73jh, but im very sure its a software issue so im posting in the general asus forum:

since a few days, my brightness slider remains fixed at the minimum, like in this pic:

    http://i38.tinypic.com/ofd7p4.jpg

when i try to turn it up, i can as long as the mouse actively clicks on the slider, but as soon as i release the mouse button, the slider jumps back to the very left.

this issue is annoying to me because whenever i resume from standby, the screen is at the minimum brightness setting and i have to change to another energy profile and then back to my preferred one to get the brightness back to the level i want. using another energy profile in general doesnt help either, same issue there.

i have not installed any software or updates when this problem first occurred. and i have extensively googled for this issue and didnt find a solution. everything was working fine for weeks with exactly the same power options before this problem. would be really great if anybody could help me.

    my systems specs:
    asus g73jh
    win7 64 bit
no power4gear installed, im using the windows energy profiles.
the laptop is permanently running with the energy cable plugged in, so its no "intended" energy saving behavior of the battery mode or anything like that...

Black Gun, Do you still have ASUS control deck installed? If you do; can you control the brightness with the slider in that application?
Also what BIOS are you on, 209??
Also if you press Windows key and X can you use the slider for display brightness in that application?

no control deck installed, bios version 206 and i dont intend to change it as my system is running stable atm (no gsods or overheating issues), so i wouldnt want to upgrade it before the definite fix for the gsod issue is out.
i get the same problems in the mobility center: i can move the slider with my mouse, but as soon as i release it, it jumps back to minimum.

    but thx for replying^^
