The Sandy Bridge does offer a healthy improvement over the Westmeres, but it'll be at least a month before you'll see mass availability. So if you need a gaming laptop now, get the G73jw; if you can wait a bit, then get the G73sw.

You may be able to wait even a bit past that for different trim models. I don't know about you but a backpack and mouse are two things I do not need.

I'd advocate waiting for the new stuff, making it an investment of sorts and upgrading the processor down the line. It would have been nice had a GPU upgrade come with that, but apparently we can have everything.

Conversely, the m17 refresh is coming up monday, perhaps that is an option as well.

Sandybridge doesn't offer an improvement in graphics; the 460m is the same in the jw as in the sw.

Since it's a gaming computer ... well, if you can get a jw for a good price, you won't be suffering in the gaming department.

SB does offer performance and battery improvements and a new processor set can be upgraded down the line.

For gaming? Not worth it. However, if you use stuff like AutoCAD, then yes.

No, most likely you won't see anything that will boost your game performance anyway.
Battery life improvement is pointless because it may only give around max 30 mins (yes, this is only my prediction but I think it sounds very reasonable)

If you want to wait, might as well wait for a new series with a new graphic card
