I purchased a g53sw-xn1 from newegg back in april...
It wouldn't boot properly, newegg replaced it. A month later, powerbutton problem with new g53 forced me to rma it. It comes back NOT FIXED.
I send it in AGAIN, this time comes back fixed, but with this weird deal where I can't change the backlight levels of the monitor and have the drivers installed for keyboard backlighting etc. THEN, a few weeks ago, my left touchpad button breaks. So I can click with it, but only on one side of it, or the whole thing sinks in and gets stuck.
and just NOW, I realize my laptop isn't charging. Why? Oh just because the power pin broke off into the ac-adaptor cable.
I was on my bed. It was charging. Why is it so weak?
Anyways, I'm obviously gonna have to RMA it, but should I just get a new laptop? I can't keep dealing with this crap product if it is gonna keep breaking on me. What has your experience been?

sounds like you got a lemon!
ask for a new, not used or refurbished model from Asus and ask for the price if not covered.
ps: dont give up on Asus -
^^ This.
My first ever G73JH was a complete failure but since then all my 7 G73JH purchases have been completely fine. As they say crap happens.
I hope you do give it one more shot, insist on a brand new piece not a fix. -
Wow very unfortunate buy there. Its up to you on giving it up its a great company, but you have to remember they are mass producing these some will be bad you got one of those. However you might want to give them up, no offense to asus die hards but the tech they put in laptops(graphics card wise) needs to be updated more often, and i have no clue what they where thinking to gimp these 560m's at bestbuy. thats wrong. i mean the best cards they have out right now on these models are the GTX 560m(not crippled but overpriced) 5870 and 480m, thats crazy. Why dont thhey put a 560 in a laptop for someone who dosnt just want 3D, i dont. that would knock the price down alot. And lets be honest its cool to have the ability and bragging rights, but who wants to watch a 3D movie with there girl or friend on a 17 inch screen? not me. Sure you can hook it up to a 3d screen which will fix that. All and all i think asus needs to rethink there laptop plans, i mean i like what there doing, but maybe less flash more power? i think people wouldnt mind that.

Sometimes the warranty will have a statement that says after so many RMAs they will replace the machine. Might be worthwhile to ask Newegg or ASUS about this. A lemon policy, if you will.

Wow thats sad on there part...
no wonder there in financial trouble -
Well I got an RMA from ASUS and I'll be sending it in again.
I am just worried that the power pin will break again or the touchpad left click button will snap again.
That button is just secured by two little pieces of plastic, and you CANNOT JUST replace the button. That WHOLE panel has to be replaced.
It's ridiculous.
The computer is great, but it just has so many stupid little things that are just stupid engineered, not cheaply, but still stupidly. -
It broke, because it's engineered stupidly, not because I treated it in an un"careful" way. I've never had these absurd problems with my other laptops, not even the other asus netbook I own.
There are a LOT of problems with these g53sw models...they screwed up when designing the thing. Just do a search and you'll see how many people have had to RMA it or have it replaced. -
If you have had 2 RMA's and the situation is not fixed, hit the Escalation page on asus.com and fill it out. Those go to Customer Care at Asus HQ and they take over the case.
