I dont know whats going on. But there is a problem with my laptop G73JH. On the left side there are different colorful lines which seems like deadpixel. On the right side of the screen there are deadpixels but I can still see something. I think it's either graphic card issue or screen issue. I connect it to the TV. It's totally working. I dont know how to fix it. IMG_0017.jpg

That is the psychedelic screen of death (PSOD). If you google that, or search here or the ROG ASUS forum you should get plenty of hits.

Although some users have fixed with an LCD replacement, as I recall Chastity said it was caused by a voltage damaged LCD controller. There is a bit of conflicting info about it out there. Personally I don't know if this LCD controller is on the motherboard, or LCD itself. The worry would be getting a new panel and finding the same thing happens to it a little time down the track.

I assume you are out of warranty? If so why not send Chastity a PM as I reckon she'll have plenty of info. Then you can assess whether it is worth fixing yourself, or getting a repair which may cover you if it happens again. Might depend on how long you are keeping the G73JH and how much the repair costs.

Obviously if you have any sort of warranty with it RMA it in a second!

You can tell by looking at it that it's a problem with the lcd itself. You'll get bad batches of lcd screens and i'm guessing this was one of the bad batches. I've seen a couple dell screens fade out but when you flex them they will come back to life until you let go again, and i've seen some toshiba screens get crazy veritcal lines when i component dies in them. If your temps for your gpu are still within reason then i would think the lcd screen is the culprit.

Depending on what model you have and if you are out of warranty you might like to consider upgrading from the 900p to 1080p if you are using a Best Buy G73JH.

In any case you would do very well to pick up an AUO V5 screen which is one of the best screens I have ever used in a laptop and worth every penny. When something breaks it is always a good thing in my opinion, its means an upgrade that is warranted if out of warranty ;)

Since the unit is OOW, I would just have the screen replaced.
