    help!

My notebook is G73jh. bought it a month ago.

I entered the BIOS settings and found the password items. (I was not quite understood, just wanted to try it). But the problem is, I set the same password at the two positions.

And i can use Windows normally but just cannot enter BIOS again because the defult action set by the BIOS is entering the windows not the BIOS i think.

Anyone has the same experience? Or has any suggestion?

Tried debug command alread but cannot clean pass word (only reset the time and date...)

    Many thanks.

If you press F2 after power on are you prompted for a password?

Sorry according to forum rules you are not allowed to ask for help with getting round a password for legal reasons.

Josea's suggestion of pressing F2 remains valid, but yeah you are not allowed to discuss bypassing the bios password on the forum board. Regardless of whether your intentions are completely legal or not discussion about bypassing security measures remain forbidden. If you are the legal owner of the machine, Asus should be able to do something for you, that much is certain.

Wait a minute. You don't remember the password you created?

No, the problem (in theory) is that the user and admin bios passwords are the same, thus there is no way for the BIOS to differentiate which is which and assumes user. I'm not sure if there is a way around this, the admin one might actually be blank. I didn't think it would let you set the same pasword for both.

I'm sorry... I'm a Chinese and it's hard for me to read the forum role when signing in.

my problem is not "dont know the password" but "used the same password in supervisor and user"... I can use the computer (legal..)but just dont know how to get into the BIOS settings...

Try just hitting enter/return at the password prompt.

    definitely the point!
I also think the program should be set not be able to use the same password... (I understand the theory afer searching internet for help)
But the fact is I cannot enter BIOS by pressing F2 when boots. That's annoying.

    Thanks for your help!

Not working. It comes up "invalid password"

Well, my misunderstanding regarding the password issue, don't worry about it ;). Have you tried contacting Asus, i'm not that familiar with the bios passwords, i never use one because i know i'd probably forget it.

It might take them more than 24 hours to answer form personal experience. however the person who got to answer my e-mail knew what he was talking about, contrarily to the guy on the phone...

It seems to me Asus has hired less qualified people to answer the phone lately.

 maybe phone answering people are hired for contact only. They always tend to be polite and also know little about computer things.(experience in my country).
so if I was contact through phone I would ask "is there any technicist around? "

I dont mind one or two days, so long as they answer me before I need to reinstall system or something.

    Update!

    solved it!

As anticipated by tijo, reply from Asus is ... I dont know whether they have read my email completely, but sure they dont understand the problem at all.

What they told me is "please entering the BIOS by pressing F2 when the ASUS screen comes up, and delete your password"...

    What a xxxx!

I cannot enter the BIOS at all.

    My experience is,
    1. If the BIOS version of you G73 is 211 or even older, and you set password but cannot enter the BIOS. Try this:
Press F2 when boots, and type in your password, then press enter.
    press F9 and then enter.

Your computer will load the optimum defult settings, and restart.

    There comes the BIOS screen!!

If you failed, please download the lastest version Winflash on ASUS website and BIOS 213. upgrade the BIOS to 213 in win7. You can press F2 and type password and see the BIOS normally.

    Hope this help.
