Or just for CPU upgrading experience, is a used one better or a refurbished?

refurbished it is usually inspected and cleaned and repaired, but wouldn't that mean it was damaged before, for used I don't assume they have the guts to sell it with obvious damage but it could potentially have been burned out or something that I wouldn't discover until like a month later.

what are your thoughts? I searched on ebay and they are about the same price, is refurbished better or used? (refurbished seller has 100% feedback but only little over hundred selling history, the used one has 99.4 but has over 2000 selling history n it's a top seller)

Is the used one cheaper? I don't think it really matters unless you're looking for something that is good for overclocking.

You would probably have to ask the sellers if they have tried overclocking it.

if they have tried overclocking already would it be better for a refurbish or used? is it possible for potential damage if the used one was overclocked?

what i meant is : if the CPU HAS been overclocked by the previous owner, wouldn't it be better for it to be refurbished rather than used?

There is no way to know which one will overclock best if they haven't been tested before. All you know when you buy a CPU is that it will run without problems at it's rated speed.

On a side note, there is no such thing as a refurbished processor, used yes, but i'd like to see someone try to refurbish a CPU and actually succeed. When it is dead, it is dead.

I see, so they are all used, but is it possible for the cpu to be potentially damage meaning it has been overclocked too much and if I do it the CPU will breakdown?

Doubtful that the CPU will have been damaged. Personally, i'd go for the new one unless you have insurance that the used one can overclock like crazy. There is little chance that the CPU is damaged and still functioning so you might go for the use done, but if you don't have any info on how it OCs, theres a 50/50 chance that it will overclock better than the new one. If you have no info on how they OC, go for the one that costs less.

so.....ok since the q9000 is way cheaper on ebay now, im really considering it, but like : if I run games that only use 2 cores does it mean i will not benefit from using q9000?

also, i just want to add, my laptop is g51vx-rx05, best buy version (Refurbished), does that mean I CAN'T use q9000 or any quad core or is it incorrect?

You can not use a quad core with that best buy model.
