am i the only person experiencing this spacebar issue? everytime i write something i have to triple check if i have included the spaces.

after returning my first g73 due to a faulty harddrive, i might return the second laptop.

hi. everything works fine regarding fn +.

im talking about pressing down the spacebar and expecting a space in return.

if i press the bottom centre area of my space bar i don't get a response.

Fn + Space, if Power4Gear is installed cycles through power plans.

OP, it seems that it is the area of the space bar when you hit it, which causes it to react like that. Mine does the same thing, and it happens when I haven't hit the space bar far enough left. Since I hit it with my right index finger, I generally hit it right on the right edge.

You could try updating your BIOS if you haven't already. If you are confident that it is not your fault, then it's possible that it could be the keyboard input lag problem. Strange that it would only happen with one key though.

I seem to miss spaces allthetime. I have to be sure to firmly hit it near the center (either end is an iffy proposition) I have touchpad disabled in BIOS 209. I just have learned to live with it.

Have you tried disabling the track pad in the bios? To me, it sounds like the same keyboard issue everyone else is dealing with, you just happen to notice it on your space bar.

Np here either, I´ve used the G73jh with the mouse pad on and off, np, space comes when I hit the key.

Damn this forum is filled with G73 owners :)

The G73 was pretty much the whole reason this part of the forum was made. There's more G73 owners here than other ROG models, it seems.

As far as the OP's concern is...concerned, I haven't had this issue, or the keyboard lag issue. I type pretty fast but never make a mistake that I think I would attribute to the keyboard. And I don't have a problem with the space bar. It used to squeak. Just took it off and dabbed a little bit of WD-40 and shizam!

Try disabling the touch pad from the bios, and see if the spacebar becomes more responsive. I have initially had issues with the spacebar not registering sometimes, but over time it has actually improved with usage. Also updating to bios 209 and updating the synaptics drivers helped significantly.

Even with the touchpad disabled in the BIOS, I noticed that I still had spacebar issues i.e. spaces might or might not show on the screen. I spent more time going back to fix the space problems than typing itself. After months of frustration, I finally took the spacebar key off the laptop. I gently pried off the spacebar using my fingers on both ends. I depressed the clear rubber nipple (that registers the spaces) to see if the problem was with that piece. There were no misfires, so I deduced that there it had to be something in the construction of the actual spacebar. After some experimentation, I was able to successfully fix my spacebar problem by applying three small square layers of clear packing tape on the underside of the spacebar in the location which makes contact with the clear nipple contact - located directly in the center (on underside) of the spacebar. So far... I have no space issues. :)

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hope this helps,
    Gerry

Now that is serious funny hardware issue. I wonder how many other keys are like that and if a void is under no two keys on the same keyboard with all the people missing differant letters would that cause asus to make a recall?

Absolutely not. Try calling ASUS Support regarding this issue. I don't think I've ever actually been laughed at on the phone.

In the real world I would not bother calling them it called class action law suit. Most states have lemon laws you find enough people to band togethor and complian about the same problem on the same product and then take it to the federal level because it is a international company and then that company has a complete change of heart. You say it an't so I say it is I did it with that as seen on tv product dealer a long time ago with a computer I bought from them. In the end I got creidited a full refund and was awarded the pc free of charge.

It may be that they damaged the key board when working on your computer, there are a few here that broke there key boards when going in to repast the heat sinks and had to replace them.
I would call support and see what they said as if they did damage the key board then I would make them fix it.

this problem occurs if you press the space bar to the right side and not in the center
