    First the basic questions:
    did the webcam work before and, if so, how did you use it (did you open it stand-alone, did you use Skype and see that it worked etc.)
    second, what program did you last utilize your webcam with? For example, did you use your cam successfully before to take videos of yourself but then decide to use Skype or another program and now it won't work?
