    Hello,

I've got an Asus G73JH and I'm still running on stock vBIOS/BIOS and 10.6 ATI drivers but my GPU temps are getting too high lately. (105°C when playing The Witcher 2)

I don't have GSOD but my question is if I update will my temps go down and howmuch?

    Thanks!

Heksar good question! You may see a slight drop in temps if you update all 3, (the newer BIOS make GPU fans run more often).
I would recommend blowing some canned air through the vents with the bottom cover removed. This has helped lower temps for many.
If after updating all 3 and using the canned air the temps are still above 100 in game, you will need to repaste the GPU.

By updating BIOS/vBIOS the fans run at 100% sooner (at 85C and it's 95C with stock I think) and you should get lower idle temps too, it downclocks your gpu when idle.

And to which BIOS/vBIOS should I update because I get a little confused with all these options...

The latest Bios as in 213 and either the v93 Vbios or Chastity's fix_od2 which can be found on her driver page at the Asus ROG forums. Personally, i'd recommend Chastity's over Asus'.

My vBIOS offers OverDrive + some powersaving tweaks on the clocks, especially for battery mode.

Thanks, and is there a difference (I use stock Bios) in temps while playing games in Adapter mode?

Nope, voltage and clocks are the same, you won't see a decrease in temps. You'll be safe from GSODs and will have lower idle temps though. Bios 213 will give you a decrease in temps if you're coming from bios 209 or older though due to the fan speed profile which was changed in 211.

My suggestion: 213 BIOS, my fix_od2 vBIOS (download fix_od package for the utilities), and current AMD drivers. (11.05a RC3 hotfix)
