    Hello,
Does anyone have wol working for the G73?

Every computer in my home network is configured for WOL ( 3 desktops, 1 laptop) and it works perfectly. However, I can't get the G73 to wake.

I have gone to the driver settings and turned on both settings (sorry, forget the exact name and I'm not on the G73 right now) one setting says allow to be waken and the other says use magic packet. I've tried to send the packet from the wan side and from the lan side. no wake.

Anyway, I've done this before and my set up works fine... just looking for feedback from someone who actually got it working.

    thanks.

Not yet... haven't had time to waste.

If it's anything like my ASUS desktop motherboard, there is a BIOS option to turn it on on top of the driver settings.... perhaps we can ask Gary to include it in the new and improved BIOS..

Despite the huge interest this seems to spark, I'll post an update ;-)

    I got it working.... once...

I set up "shutdown and wakeup" to "enabled" and I set "wake up capabilites" to "magic packet"

I used a packet sniffer that confirms the packet is reaching the computer.

I sent the magic packet and the G73 booted. However it only happened once and in about 10 different tries, it hasn't happened again.

I'll keep trying. (btw, it was under BIOS 211, under 209, I never got it to work)

Due to the ever increasing and always overwhelming requests for information I have kept working at this. ( ;-) )

I figured it out. Silly, I was.

Anyway, in addition to the two settings on the advanced tab, you have to go to the power saving tab and check "allow this device to wake the computer from a standby state". Actually, mine wakes from standby but also from total shutdown with the battery taken out. (err... you might want to plug in power at least...)

You have to keep one thing in mind: battery life.

When you leave this setting enabled, the lan card will constantly be powered albeit very little, even when the computer is off! Now that I know this setting does it, I will disable it when travelling. My G73 tends to stay on my desk with the battery removed all the time except when I *really* travel.

If you are constantly moving your G73 and using it in battery, you are better off leaving this setting disabled.

Pretty sure it is in the BIOS, hit F2 after power on to enter BIOS .
Also open device manager - network adapters- right click NIC - properties - advanced ...

Sorry to revive an old thread (again...lol) but I finally got this working, except one nuance.

Ive been running the remote desktop software on my Decepticon . I can wake the computer up, control it, and shut it down from anywhere, but I like using hibernate, and it seems I cant wake it from hibernation or sleep. Any suggestions? All necessary ports have been forwarded, power management for the network adapter is all good (again I CAN wake from off, just not hibernate/sleep)
