All of a sudden my fan on my g50vt stopped working and my laptop overheats. I put the fan on an external load and it spins fine so whats wrong here?
the fan connection has red, blue, yellow, and black. Black being ground i presume, what voltage should i be getting on the colors?

should be around 5V if im not mistaken...if you wish to test it, use a 9V battery and try to see if it spins, thats how i tested the fan on my old toshiba laptop...9V wouldnt hurt it. Just as soon as you get a response, unplug it

Check the the place where u plug the fan into...

Check it off with no power attached batter out.
Do an Ohms test. See what you.
    THen check a working connection
    Compare results.

THen add power and battery and do a Volt check.

Yellow is a Signal sender, to tell the system what speed the fan is moving.
    Blue is the same thing

Red and Balck are part for the power system.
