    Look in device manager under disk drives.

    Start->Run-> devmgmt.msc

    Well 6400s doesn't help at all.. I can search that number all day long and get nada, thanks for the help though.. im just curious if that 2.5' mobile western digital scorpio black Sata hdd would have been what someone else used in my model and have confirmed it worked.

    is it a WD6400BPVT?

    If device manager is too cryptic there are any number of utilities that will list your hardware for you.

    Or you can just reboot into the bios setup and look there.

    Or you could just flip it over and open the HDD panel? Everything is printed right on the label.

    darkmajesty06, is this the model you want to upgrade to, WD Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT - hard drive - 500 GB - SATA-300 ?

    I think what is being asked is will the Scorpio work in this machine
    It came with Hard Drive 320.0 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 7200.0 rpm

    According to this http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...arket-upgrades/456321-cpu-upgrade-vs-ssd.html
    (see OP) the answer is yes the sata 300 drive will work with your machine.

    Josea, yes that is exactly the drive I want. I actually had a we scorpio black 320 gig installed by the previous owner. But it died after to many uses of a format tool. I wouldnt need to ask but I lost the old drive and the only number I see printed on the stock hdd is 6400s.. I can't even find a brand name. I don't mean to sound silly but I only ha e my phone as means of internet, so I can't post a link to the amazon item I was talking about. Although it seems the one you've posted will work. So ill give it a try. Thank you!
