today i get a notification from firefox to update it to 4.0 and i know that there were some problems talking about it but i couldn't find the thread
okay so the first thing i noticed like the rest of us was my clock jumped to 700/1000 and i remembered that there was some option to disable hardware acceleration and that's what i have done
went to options>options>advanced>general and unchecked use hardware acceleration when available (but that doesn't completely disable the accelerations)
on the home page of facebook the clock stays at 700/1000 ... am i doing something wrong or what?
and there was some thread about not so clear text but as i can see the text is kinda clear (but would like to know where is that fix too)

have you checked again after restarting firefox? disabling hw acceleration should do the trick.
Sometimes, my 3d vision gets enabled while browsing (I suspect flash plugin acceleration, but it doesn't happen always), so try disabling it - desktop compositing in windows is also accelerated so that should help a lot
And another thing - there is a silverlight plugin for 3d vision, and also a cooliris plugin (possibl many more I haven't mentioned or seen), those are cool but useless so disable them as well. -
use hardware acceleration when available is that it?
i have uncheked it and still when i start firefox they jump and also when scrolling the hope page in fb (that's what i have tried for now)
i have the silverlight plugin yeah but i don't think the clocks were jumping on 3.6 version with them (but i am not sure)
EDIT : actually scrolling on facebook home page makes my clocks jump to 700/1000 on all browsers (can anyone confirm this ? ) -
There's an issue in Catalyst 11.3 and maybe older, that has been fixed in 11.4 regarding firefox 4 and clocks.
But I think it's normal for Firefox 4 to keep the clock at maximum as long as FF4 is in front and has the open page has dynamic content, at least that's how it works on my pc. Open a new site and it stays on 700, open only google.com and it goes down after a second to 405.

this is not a firefox 4 issue this is either vbios issue either this way the vbios work .... (jumping the clocks simultainesly - 3D/2D ...3D/2D)
p.s where is @tilla so he can test this on the MSI if his vbios react like this -
Haven't tested it with ff4, but i got my clocks jumping when i open/close/reload tabs in opera with my current settings. This happens both on my G73 and N50 so i doubt the issue is G73 only related.
Ok, after writing the first paragraph, i tested ff4 on my n50 and my 9650GT also goes to stock clocks in ff4 with hardware acc disabled. I'll post screenshots if i get unbelievers.

There's nothing FF is doing. With PowerPlay enabled the clocks jump the same as they do in any other raised UI use situation.
If you don't like it then hop on the complain-about-the-vBIOS threads and complain about the medium state clocks being hardwired/locked at high. -
Just clock down into battery clocks while you're surfing. Powerplay serves that purpose for me.
FN+Space and I switch between power profiles quick and easy. -
i've figured that out Marks
solution ?
MSI vbios? how does it react on this ?
