Hi, I'm looking to buy an asus laptop, but I'm a little confused, I was watching the models of laptops and i don't know which is the newest model computer, I have seen the G73JW-A1, G73JH-X5, G73JW-XA1.

I am from mexico and I want to make the best investment possible, i study mechatronics engineering and want a laptop that lasts at least five years, which model do you recommend buying?

p.d. I know the latest model is the one with the new Intel sandy-bridge, but talking to people from xoticpc they told me that this model was no longer available until Intel could fix the problem with the processor and at least they'll solve it until April, but the problem is that I have no time to wait for three months.

also, what should you do in my place?, send the laptop to my aunt's house in the U.S. and she send me it to Mexico, or directly from the store send it to my house?

Greetings to all and sorry for my English.

edit: I would not like to think that I am ungrateful, I have my account for like 3 years and visited almost daily the forums of this site, but for personal reasons i had to change the username and made a new account.
and now I post because I want to make the best purchase possible, since the economy in Mexico is very serious and are not too many opportunities to change each every year of computers.

The X5 and the XA1 doesn't include the gaming backpack and gaming mouse (according to Amazon) while the A1 includes those. I find those freebies cool and perfect for my G73JH-A2. If those freebies and the 1Tb (500Gb x 2) HDD doesn't concern you, then you might narrow down your option to JH-X5 or JW-XA1. Adobe applications prefer Nvidia GPUs on JW to get some performance increase. JW has 1 USB 3.0 too. Meanwhile the optical disk drive of JH-X5 is Bluray while on the JW-XA1 is the DVD drive.

The JH-X5 has only 1066MHz of 8Gb DDR3 (according to Amazon) while the JW-XA1 has 1333. (I ordered my G73JH-A2 with 1066MHz on the Amazon website and when I got it, it has 1333 instead, depends on your luck). i7-740qm of JW has only little performance difference compared to the i7-720qm of JH. And also, the JH-X5 has 2 HDDs (320Gb x 2) while the JW-XA1 has 1HDD (750Gb) so most probably, the JW-XA1 has only 1 HDD bracket inside it meanwhile the JH-X5 has 2 of it, if you're planning to add a 2nd HDD on the JW-XA1, you need to find an HDD bracket that would fit the HDD slot.

The price difference of JH-X5 to the JW-XA1 is not more than 30 bucks. If you're planning to game, the 5870m of JH beats the 460m of the JW by a few FPS in gaming.

... a new computer every 2 years. Any laptop you buy will *last* 5 years.
