i want to use the bing cashback on tiger direct, but then again i really want to customize my laptop at xotic pc. The only thing i really wanna customize is the wireless card so i was wondering if upgrading to the intel 6200 is that hard or is it even worth it.
    thanks

Its highly recommended to upgrade the card. If you want to to it yourself its a piece of cake or pie. Tiger you get the lappy now, xotic you have to wait. powernotebooks have it in stock with customs. ( I myself hate wire transfer.... and my CC limit is tiny).

Does it void the warranty if you replace the card?

Extremely unlikely. Changing out the card is relatively simple -the card is easily accessible and no major disassembly is required. Just be careful with the delicate antenna connectors - they pop off like bottle caps.

See the Asus G73 Series Disassembly Guide page 2-5.

This might be all true, but it's pointless without the original poster having a router with N support. :)

I don't have a N router, my Linksys WRT54G that I bought in 2005 has been working great, been using DD-WRT of couse too.

I prob wont be investing into a N router until this one dies.

    Is that 150 or 300?

    150 should be ~18.5 mb/sec
    300 should be ~ 37 mb/sec

The 150 and 300 numbers are theoretical maximums. Actual transfer speed varies widely with connection quality, operating system, transfer type, file sizes, etc. etc. I'd love to get that 37MB/s number all the time :)

that's what I was getting at the time. I just did another transfer getting about 14 MB/s, and before got about 19. So it varies. Windows is reporting a max 300mbps.

And I thought I was the only one. dd-wrt is very impressive.

That confirms my point. There was a lot of assuming that the other person would get a benefit with a WiFi card replacement, but didn't even bother to ask the most basic of questions, which wireless router do you own. :)

I own the original GS version of your router and like you, I also won't be investing in a new router until this one dies. One difference though, I use the last Cisco firmware without issues. Oh, I've considered DD-WRT, but never got around to it.
