hey guys, i did a clean installation of windows 7 on my g73jh and just noticed that the cpu score has dropped significantly from above 6 to 5.6. I have intel i7q740 1.73ghz so i guess it should run better than 5.6. Did microsoft just updated their database of windows experience index for newer hardware or maybe i just missed some important update? PS. I did updated my inf and made sure that bios version is 213... So any ideas? Thanks in advance.

ps: I also noticed that graphic index (ati 5870m) has been put down from 7.2 to 6.8...kind of strange imo.

Go into power options and select high performance, also make sure that in advanced power options you have the CPU Processor Management against plugged in set to min 100% and max 100%. Then re run it.

That should help with the score, but it won't help with keeping your machine cool and silent :)
After you run it (which has no influence on anything, as long as it's higher than 3), set the settings back to default.

i installed direct x from microsoft. now the graphics ratings are back to 7.2. but the cpu rating is still 5.8... i guess i could be missing some important performance update.

I always have my settings to 100% and it makes no difference to my temps. Just because the CPU has its clocks set to 100% does not mean the load is at 100% and it usually means better performance as it can access maximum turbo when it needs to all the time.

The only thing it will effect is the battery life.

@OP did you do what I said and switch your profile to high performance? when you reinstall it will be set to balanced.

well, i guess the problem may be associated with turbo boost.

When I tried to install turbo boost driver, it returns to me something like this: This Computer does not meet the minimum requirement for installing this software" Has anyone encountered similar problems?

Have you installed the Asus ATK package? That is needed to run nearly all other Asus software.

Turbo boost is built into the CPU and will run automatically you do not need to turn it on, what you are trying to install is the turbo boost monitor and this requires the latest Net Framework before it will run so run Windows Update.

Again I have to ask...have you done what I said above?!

Yes, I have. My score before this power setting was 5.6. After the adjustment, it's now 5.8. It did improve a little bit.

The thing is, 5.8 is still now I want. As far as I can remember, the CPU score should be around 6.5. But I am not too sure about this...

my cpu score was around 7.0 , and mine is i7 740qm .
I have to say something , man dont trust that frekin windows index thing , because it lies always , do you know? I get 7.6 with my hd 6990 .
man its true , the windows index thing is the stupidest thing on windows 7 and vista. so dont worry , if you feel the speeds are gone down run some benches like 3dmark 11 , vantage and tell us the scores.
