Somebody has the changelog of the 309 bios? It just come out from asus. And if somebody has the 306 file for gx701gx if could post here would be so much appretciated!
EDIT: DO NOT UPDATE. You will loose the ability to undervolt with 309! I couldn't have access to the changelog but my throttlestop settings were not applied. Also using intel XTU! Why asus? What do you want from us?

I've got armoury crate (last update) and bios 308 zephyrus gx701gx and I can set fans to 0% to 110% where 10-16% is like 1000-1500 rpm. Did you try to install myasus and let it update the software? Sometimes it's just armoury crate that is ****!

Hi,
have anyone modded vBios for rtx 2080 max-q? -
Modded no. But you can flash the alienware 200w 2080 vbios onto the zephyrus
@Sup3rKillaX flashed it and gained quite a lot of performance.mediadoctor likes this. -
Know you which version of vBios?
-
me! could i test it?
-
Hello
have anyone bios 306 and 307 for downgrade? -
I wrote to ASUS Service website with this problem. They wrote back to me that for all GX701-GV-GX-GW series in Manual mode the minimum RPM is 4000 RPM. Can you record a movie from Armory Crate? Where 10-16% is like 1000-1500 RPM. I would be very grateful.

block the permission of all accounts to access Windows\Firmware folder. works for me, model GX701gx
-
Could I test it? I have a GX701GXR with 2080mq and 9750h. Thanks!

Is anybody still running an OC Vbios ? -
Vbios no, shunt mod yes.
@Sup3rKillaX 's scores have long been surpassed by myself and many others. -
Can you give me an idea or a link to the shunt mod and what's involved - and what scores are you running dude?
-
There are no links, i was the first to attempt shunt modding on a laptop. Since then I've helped many other people with laptop shunt modding and I'd be happy to guide you though it as well.
I just need a high resolution pcb shot of your motherboard, front and back and clear shots of the gpu vrms.
Here are my scores

Can anybody help a brother out, Asus is not honouring the warranty left on a gx701 without a photo of the receipt, any way around this? I based in the UK.
-
2 options :
You're lucky to find someone with same laptop willing to lend you his receipt
You buy it again to get one and then refund it -
I don't need a physical copy, just a scanned photo right?
Asus never use to require a receipt -
Looking to do shunt mod on mine. Let me know where to send high res photo. Thanks!
-
Just pm me an imgur album and I'll get to it.
-
what vbios did you use? -
He used a 190w alienware A51m vbios
The shunt resistors are on the other side of the motherboard -
Awesome thanks I want to take a crack at the vbios since it is easier to do than the shunt mod. WIll probabaly shunt mod this weekend, thanks for the advice! So he used the AW51 190W 2080 vbios? non ax q correct?
-
Nobody can share the vbios used by Sup3rKillaX?
-
Any good links where to purchase the shunt resistors?
-
Mouser electronics or digikey will work. Just look for susumu shunt resistors.
-
Thanks!
-
Nope, wrong shape

Any recommendations?

0.003 work?

or these? not sure exactly which resistance to get.

What is the maximum that the SSD can be increased to. ASUS said the BIOS only supported 1 TB. I don't feel this is correct since most people offer more.
After it gets changed, outside of windows and armory crate is there anything that needs to be installed? -
whoops!!
how do i know if this has been updated on my machine ? -
I flashed this rom and now no matter what drivers i install , the GPU is not recognized by the system and device manager says there's an error with the drivers.
It is also not detected by CPUZ etc.
Any way to revert the situation?
Alternatively, anyone can share the original vbios for this card to see if Windows will recognize it again upon reflashing?
when i reinstall drivers it says that it works fine but it's not true: as soon as I restart, device manager shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" again.

Thats mine, 2080Ti, hope that helps.
As an aside to anyone else on here considering buying one of these second hand... Between my coworker and I we've had 3 motherboard replacements (all the same, USB C on left hand side dies, battery stop charging), would not recommend, and would recommend anyone with the option to extend the warranty to do so.

Hi, thanks for your vbios.
Unfortunately it is not even about the vbios anymore, the situation has gone too FUBAR.
The only way to fix it is to use an nvflash version that supports -4 and -5 commands. But apparently no such version exists for Nvidia RTX 20xx cards.
Other than that, I've never had any problem with this laptop. -
there you go, just tested ;(( -
Just came here to mention I'm having the same issue. Out of curiosity:
1.) Was a motherboard replacement (If I remember correctly this will be nearly 2000 euros?!) the only fix?
2.) Did the USB C on the left hand side die due to usage, or randomly?
In my case my USB-C port on the left hand side died some time after plugging in an ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE Portable Monitor, that also caused the battery to repeatedly drain unless it's attached to AC power.
Considering the issues I've had with this one I would also not recommend it. It's an amazing laptop, except for the hardware flaws. I'm eyeing a replacement, so I hope the Zephyrus Duo has had these solved in the meantime. -
1) after I sent my unit to the ASUS repair center, yes replacing the whole board was the only possible repair option. The cost for this is literally more than the full price that was paid for this laptop.
2) No, to me it died after the problem at 1 started. Somehow it seems connected to the NVIDIA functionalities. -
Yeah the USB C Port dies completely randomly, this PC is a desktop replacement, it doesn't move. Once the USB C dies this stops the Battery from charging (presumably because this thing supports USB C charging). Only fix is a motherboard replacement, the first time for me was at 3 months after purchase, for my coworker 8 months, and my second was actually 5 days out of warranty but they honoured it (and replaced the battery for some reason). The main warning sign is the battery sometimes charging sometimes not... This always (in our experience, 4 motherboards later) ends in USB C/Motherboard/Battery Death. I've read of similar issues with USB C charging and have seen the same thing in my office where computers have the option of USB C charging or DC... I think ASUS will address this in the next model but meanwhile it's a definite design fault and warranty is the only effective way to fix it unfortunately.

I have an opportunity to buy this laptop second hand (but only 2 months old) for a pretty good price. Was very excited and ready to go through with the purchase but after seeing all of these malfunctioning units I cant stomach to spend so much money for it...Last edited: Nov 15, 2021

can the newest 3080 model be undervolted?
-
Hello guys,
First timer here. I got a question, since I updated the BIOS i can't undervolt my GX701GXR. Does anyone have the V.307 BIOS to share please? I can't find it anywhere even if my life depend on it.
I can only find V302, V309 and the lates 310.
TL;DR: can anybody please share V.307 BIOS and save me?
