Maybe I am missing something but not seeing where it says it doesn't...
I'm using this as we speak:
NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.61 WHQL
-
-
@ supported products it says "Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release." I thought this means Power4Gear Hybrid?
edit. looks like that hybrid power technology means something else. -
I'm using those drivers on my laptop, and they were the resolution to a lot of my gaming issues. Case in point, The Witcher wouldn't let me load anything higher than the low low quality textures, even running with the GT 540M. It turns out that without those drivers, it will still run off the GT 540M, but as far as the came is concerned, it only has 64MB of ram (same as integrated). With the verde drivers, I'm able to run it at max settings and with a decent frame rate. Quite pleased considering I bought this for heavy duty web browsing, not gaming.
-
installed that driver, and in reboot i got a blue screen saying "driver power state failure". dunno if it's because my laptop wasn't plugged.
-
I would expect a laptop to be capable of installing a driver while unplugged... Not sure what to tell you, I installed that exact driver last night and it worked fine for me... Other issues connected to that tend to have security software as root causes... does it give any other information or do you have any additional part of the BSOD message? It normally identifies a specific program.
-
The adaptor must be well grounded and it should not be the "Electric Shock" issue. I don not remember if something is written in the manual about adaptor and grounded power supply.
I had a problem but after plugging to well grounded power supply unit, the issue vanished for once and for all.
Of course you can check if the problem exists, just plugging in few different places (first I went with the laptop to my collegue).
If the problem remains after checking in few places, it means the problem may be caused by faulty adaptor. -
This is indeed weird...
plz check your minidump and update us, curious about this.
I am using this driver for at least two weaks with no problems. -
Hi
just bought the n53sn-xr2. haven't had much time to play around with it yet but it rivals my old HP one. wondering if anyone could help me with my resolution problem im having. im not sure if this laptop has the 1080p or if its just stuck on this ty 720p. I thought all the sn models came with full hd? -
Anyone here replaces the optical drive bay with a 12.7mm Fenvi caddy just so you can install a 2nd hard drive?
-
Well all sites found mentioning this model say it's 720p only...
Still njoy it!!!
so did you? -
Just got my n53sv-xv1 from newegg. Did a clean install, and everything is fine except one small thing: when i boot up, I get a screen asking me to choose between "Windows 7" and "Windows 7" to boot from, as if I have two windows 7 installed. I do not. Both choice will get me to the same window 7 that I have installed. What is the problem?
Btw, Love this piece of machine. Just awesome!!! I am glad that this forum made me decide to buy this laptop and I do not regret one bit (not yet at least...) -
It could be old OS installation lingering. Also, if you used msconfig to disable some services or startup programs, it creates another boot entry in the boot.ini file in the root of C:
-
Thanks for the reply! Well, I didn't configure anything in msconfig. I also deleted the windows.old folder through disk cleanup. So is there anyway to get rid off this screen? Not a big problem, just one extra press of enter key that I'd like to avoid.

Use easybcd to get rid of the extra startup option.
Download EasyBCD 2.0.2 - NeoSmart Technologies -
Awesomeness! Thanks!!!!
-
It just came once after the driver install, dunno why.
I'm seriously wondering what's wrong with this video card. Mine can't even handle Trine with full settings, but I've seen videos on youtube where people play gta 4 using high settings with this card and it looked pretty good. Is there something wrong with my computer
-
First problem with mine n53sn.
The WiFI don't stay on. I open the Wireless Console, turn on the WIFI (icon indicates thas it is on) but nothing happens and if I open the console again the icon of the WIFI indicates thats it is off.
Can someone help me? -
hmm I got only Portal 2 playing. and it is smooth on fhd.
heck even intel's card is running ok with this game so maybe it's not a good comparison point...
maybe try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling. and make sure the nvidia card is actually on when playing. if that still looks shaky maybe a clean install will do the fix. last resort is returning it...
hmm got it also once...
try one by one installing these: from the edrive folder
wlan driver-
eDriver\Software\WLAN\Azurewave\AW-NB037_20101203
bt driver-
eDriver\Software\Bluetooth\Azurewave
and the console-
eDriver\Software\ASUS\Wireless_Console_3
it could be that the console install will do the trick, but try all. nothing to lose.

hi all,
just bought my n53sv-sz454v in singapore.
when l return home to london in a month l would like to replace the keyboard with a uk version. only been using the laptop for a few hours and having the @ key in the wrong place is driving me insane.
can someone recommend a link for a uk variant, official or otherwise?
quickly fired up steam and played 10 mins of Civ5 and gameplay uis much improved over my Dell Studio XPS 13. So happy so far. Waiting to do a clean install after l have fitted my 500Gb 7200rpm drive.
Specs:
Intel i7-2620QM, 4GB RAM (shop upgraded to 16gb), 640G Hdd 5400Rpm -
Yeah that's weird because Can You Run It? says that the recommended video ram for trine is 256mb and i got 2.7gb.. Would expect it to run with full settings.
Did you use full graphics on Portal 2 or did you just turn the resolution to fhd? It worked pretty good with default settings and fhd when i tried it. Could you possibly try Trine and tell me how it looks with highest graphics? -
thanks for your help, but didn't work.
I uninstalled the Wireless Console and so far it's seems working ok, only the wireless indicator light don't stay on. -
I have ordered this machine more than a month ago and I still don't have it. I ordered N53SN-SZ013 and it's not available anywhere. I think I will change my mind and will order something else
But everything else is much expensive, HELP
should I wait more?
-
can the graphics card on n53sv be changed?
-
okay, i did a clean windows install and installed all the drivers, but now trine doesn't even start. it says "The program can't start because Xinput1_3.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
edit. after all these problems i've decided to sell this laptop, because i've seen many cheaper laptops run games better than this. and i don't really see any reason why i would need a fhd lappy because it can't really run games fhd. shame i can't return it to the shop i bought it from because they got some stupid rule that you're not allowed to open the box
-
Anyone know why the N53SV-XV1 is currently "under review" by Amazon? I was finally going to purchase it today when I saw it was down. =\
-
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
@dk00111 maybe it's because of the eSATA port being missing on the actual models shipped?
-
I am thinking of buying it too. I can't find another laptop with this price and with similar features offered. It's a great deal.
I already ordered a Fenvi 12.7 mm caddy to replace the optical drive, and will put a SSD on it. -
I believe they addressed that a while back. They did the same thing as now, they took it down edited the description and put it back up for sale. I am a bit puzzled as to why they're doing it this time though.
-
had same problem. a directx reinstall did the trick. from here:
Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
have u tried another game?
trine is working ok. not really my cup of tea so just ran it and no problems... -
I bought the N53SV-XV1 the night before it was displayed as "under review". I tried asking amazon what the problem is and they didn't tell me anything useful besides "it will be back on sale shortly"... my xv1 will be here tomorrow so hopefully everything is fine
-
Yeah I figured it out. Did you run it with high settings, antialiasing x4 and fhd? For me it was choppy. Only games that worked good were the old GTA: Vice City and Portal 2.
-
Well, they took down the notice, but now they're not selling it... Anyone know what's going on?
-
Not sure even the Amazon CSR would know....maybe there is a new model?
-
I read somewhere that N43/53/73 are not available because of earthquake in Japan, ASUS has some problems with blu-ray drives. But it's probably just a rumour.
-
Both ASUS N53SV-XV1 and ASUS N53SV-A1 are now
"Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." at Amazon.
If there is really a shortage, the ASUS G73SW-XA1 still is on sale there...maybe there is an Asus N53 craze and fans bought them all up? -
Sorry deleted it.
Maybe the game itself is not coded so well.
Still I think you need to try more games before you decide...
Good Luck! -
I just got delivery of my beautiful new Asus N53SN-SZ085V with the following spec:
Intel Core i7-2630QM
15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 LED LCD Screen
NVIDIA GeForce GT550M 2GB VRAM
7500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
8GB DDR3 RAM
BluRay Combo Drive
All I can say is that I am so happy with this laptop. I used to have a HP laptop before and the build quality on the Asus is just as good. The keyboard feels a bit squishy, but only slightly and I am being very critical by even mentioning it.
The 1080p screen is glorious. It is so beautiful and I did worry about the resolution being too high making everything small but that is not the case. It is wonderful and I will NEVER EVER go back to less resolution on a laptop. Viewing angles are also fantastic. It came pre-installed with so much bloatware that I am currently making some system restore DVDs before wiping it and putting on a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Luckily, Asus were kind enough to include the drivers on DVD for me in the box.
Its a very quiet laptop, much quieter than my HP which was only a Core 2 Duo T6750 or something. I have been running the Asus at 2.8ghz constantly and there is no increase in noise! It is also very cool to the touch.
My only complaint was the poor screen protector used when the laptop was made. It has caused some scratches and marks on the shiny black piano bezel which upsets me now because it is my new laptop. I'm sure I won't care by next week lol -
Hi,
I have n73sv-tz094 which should have GT540M -graphics, but I was not able to install Nvidia drivers and there are no sign of that graphic card. Cpu-Z shows only intel HD graphics 3000 and I cannot find an option to choose which card to use from the bios.
Also hdmi won't work and I cannot use an external display. Any ideas how to enable Geforce? I have a sticker below the keyboard that says that GT540M is installed... -
Hello,
I recently purchased a N53SV-SZ280V and did a fresh install of Windows 7. Problem is that sometimes the whole laptop freezes and I have to do a hard-reboot. The screen freezes and the sound gets in an infinite loop.
These freezes occurs randomly. Sometimes when watching Youtube videos, sometimes when starting a game. I believe it might be the GPU drivers that's buggy.
I have updated to the latest Realtek drivers, Intel Chipset drivers, Nvidia drivers & Optimus and ATK from Asus website.
Does anyone know a possible fix or is my laptop defect? -
Could anyone with a Full HD display please tell me what Windows identifies their display as? Mine just says 'Generic PnP Monitor'. Is this correct or am I missing a driver here?
Could someone also please tell me what setting their display size is on when you right-click on the desktop > Personalise > Display -
(Any error in event viewer?)
I'd probably try again to install fresh copy of Windows 7. Instead of drivers from ASUS website I'd try drivers from manufacturers, Intel, NVIDIA, and so. -
Hi All,
I am about to make a purchase for the ASUS N53SV HDU3-SX493V , but, I am concerned about the battery life it can offer how long can it last ? and does the Asus N53V come with the ability to install a 9 cell battery pack also ? How long would I get out of a 6 Cell and a 9 cell installed in the ASUS N53SV HDU3-SX493V.
How long would 6Cells : 5200 mAh 56 Whrs and 6Cells : 4400 mAh 47 Whrs . each Last ?
Also, how many seconds is the start up ? 30 secs ?
Thanks in advance
Please anyone able to advise me please my current laptop malfunctioned. -
On Entertainment mode while doing some light surfing, music etc. the battery lasts around 4 hours on the 6-cell. I'm not sure if there is a 9-cell battery available for these models.
The startup time is more like 1 minute+.
I checked the event viewer, only thing it found was the error from the hard reboot I had to do.
I did actually download the latest NVIDIA driver from their website. But why would drivers from Asus' own website cause unexpected freezes in the first place? Just wondering if anyone else have experienced the same problem, and identified what the cause may be. These freezes are really random, doesn't occur on specific events. -
there is no 9 cell for this model.
4 hours sounds about right with low light on screen and no video playback.
@Traxor
Is there a minidump file?
did u make sure u got all drivers? don't forget Intel Management Engine Interface...
Yes Generic. and 125%.
Add 'Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood' to the list. Works good on default settings, which is FHD but not all settings on highest.
did u sell it? -
@ startrooper: Didn't sell it yet, I'm going to try GTA IV and Black Ops before I decide.
@ Cubed: I use 125% too. 100% is way too small and 150% makes some programs look blurry.
If someone's still able to try Trine, please tell me how it looked with everything maxed and FHD.
edit. Tried Black Ops, worked great on FHD. -
Ah, I didn't install that one. I'll install it and see if it fixes the problem. Thanks
(also couldn't find a minidump file) -
Just as a heads up, the XV1 is back up on Amazon. I'm considering getting it this week, but I don't know if I should get the HP dv6t Quad instead... How is this machine for gaming?
-
You mean XV1? It has same specs as my SZ095V and I've had problems with older games. Black Ops and Portal 2 have worked pretty good on fhd, but I do not recommend this for gaming. I'd take something with like 1366x768 and a little better graphics card.
I've asked this before, do you people think that the graphics card can be changed to a better nvidia one in the future?
I've also been thinking this for a while. Is the power cable (dunno what it's really called) supposed to be a little loose, or have I damaged it somehow? I mean where you plug it behind your lappy. -
Perfect thanks for info startrooper and infaking.
I tried a custom percentage of 120% but it wasn't quite right. 125% is very good. -
I've been running Crysis on high settings at 1366x768 and sometimes on very high settings with little hiccup. Even though it's a 2007 game that engine is still strong till this day.
