What panel did you install in there? Did you have to change anything such as cable? What if you switch back? This is just to verify if the original panel would exhibit the same symptom or not.

Use a better quality of DP cable. Have you also tried HDMI?

HDMI version on monitor is only 1.4 so no way for 60hz.

Today I'm using 59hz (have both 59 and 60 options, not sure why) through DP and only had problem when connected phone to laptop through usb, signal got lost for 2-3 seconds. This signal losings seems random.
Maybe I will try to find shorter mDP to DP cable.

Is it possible to remove DVD rom and install HDD instead? (I'm using SSD)

    Hi guys!
Today my laptop didn't boot as usual.

Black monitor, no ASUS screen. Power button was lit, as the power led, the battery led, and the wifi led. No sign from the hdd led, and upon pressing the caps lock button, its led wouldn't turn on.

    I followed this steps:
    - unplugged the cable
    - took RAM off and put it back on
    - unplugged the SSD and put it back on
    - pressed for 20 seconds the power button
    - removed the battery

    Everything to no avail.

Then I tried to remove the CMOS battery, and after having waited for some minutes placed back on.
After this, upon pressing the power botton, nothing happens anymore.
Totally no signs of life: no led, no charger led, nothing.

What should I do? It seems strange that CMOS battery forbids my computer to turn on, not even showing the battery charging led.

I replaced original WIFI card because it was pretty bad (disconnects, losing signal, bad signal, low speed etc..) and changed it with intel AC 7260. Now signal is better but disconnects are still happening
I'm using win10 64 with latest intel drivers (tried reinstalling but didn't fix). Wireless adapter is on "maximum performance", "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is off.
Tried resetting IP settings and many other suggestions I could google but problem is still there.
I connect to wifi, sometimes lose it after 30 sec, sometimes after 3 min, then it's back, then again lost.. anyway, almost never stable for 1h.
Sometimes after drop it happens that the network gets lost from the WIFI networks list (can see other networks) and come back in 30-60sec. The problem is not with the network since my phone is connected ok. Also I tried in another house and same problem.
Actually, most of the time phone is connected to laptop with usb cable to share internet to it because laptop's WIFI is not stable for me to use it.
I opened laptop, reinserted card and checked that antennas are connected good.

Have you also looked into issues with the wireless AP? And what about other wireless devices that are sharing the same AP?

I am connecting to building router now so can't access it. But I had same problems in my last apartment where I used my router while never had problems with phone (gf also didn't have any problems with several different devices).

I see, but that does not mean the firmware is up-to-date as it may work with certain radio chips but not well with some.
Also, you can try USB-type of wireless adapter and see how it behaves.

If you are in the EU, http://www.asusparts.eu/en/ not sure about their shipping prices outside EU, but they carry original Asus parts, if not, any new battery from Amazon/ebay will work, but they might not have the real/advertised capacity.

Hey guys, any of you on new laptop? Can you compare with N550JV?
I'm looking for new laptop but feel so hard to move to black keyboard and whole bottom part being black after silver. I really like silver.
Also, concerned about fan noise.. N550JV was pretty quiet for me.

Mine is getting hot just doing simple things like surfing. Do I need to clean some vents or something? Or are browsers and Win10 these days just so demanding on hw?

It's never a bad idea to clean out your fans, especially if it's getting hotter than normal.

I'm fairly happy with the n550jv as well, though maybe it could be time for an upgrade.

What's the newest current iteration for the n550jv from Asus (touch screen doesn't matter)?
