That's mean the G1S will score MUCH MUCH better with the new drivers and there is more factors that will make more marks like GDDR3 and OC'in

OMG!!! Thx GENTECH

I hope that's be helpful
Btw: I think the G1S will score with XP/new Vista drivers ~5800 @ 1024x768 in 3dmark06
-Jabriiiz -
Zepto got a 1280x1024 score now using an external LCD.
3DMark06 1280x1024 = 3100 -
can someone tell me how good is the 8600m gt because I saw the Benchmark but I don't now what they mean, compare it to 7900 gt or a quick explanation of it, please
-
Hello!
I'm wondering how the games look in 1280x1024 or 1024x768... Is it blurry and misshaped ?
And what about the screen ? 8ms ?
Thx ! -
8ms is a decent screen refresh rate, which usually means that there wont be any ghosting.
1024x768 sucks, and yes it'll be blurrier. -
Plz, when the score is 5411, what is temperature of the core?
Thx
-
That is crazy. I actually just want to see an oblivion test vs the 7900 gs.
The card overclocks and 06 score goes up 1800 points? That is very crazy.
For the time this gpu is on the market selling against the 7 series 256 bit gpus, I cant imagine buying one of the old series. Couldnt see buying even like the new sager or dell e1705 because its a bad investment -
@ GenTechPC
Please, can you place link (ORB) to Futuremark site with 3DMark 06 results (stock clocks), so I can verify all those 8600M GT "benchmarks".
It,s not like... I don't trust pictures
-
Sure that'll be sometimes tomorrow, too busy today because of first day of the week.
And don't forgot this, the 5411 on 3DMark06 was benchmark at 1024X768 not 1280X1024.
-
hey gentech, sorry to ask more questions, but have u heard of a upcoming, or any rumours of a dx10 refresh of the a8js, or any 14.1" that has a decent dx10 graphics card (8600m gs/gt or even the 8400m gt) other than the zepto 6224w?
thanks for all the work mate. -
Yeah, it'll be the A8SC-A1. The vid card is the GeForce 8600M G (not GS or GT, it's just G) 128MB.
-
I think the f3sv is pretty awesome.. but everyone is completely ignoring it for the fact that g1s is miles better. hmmm. I would love to get my hands on g1s but around $2000 is a bit too much for me, since $1500 f3sv is pushing it for me.
isnt the 3dmark06 of around 2000 pretty good anyways? Unless you are used to high settings with huge resolutions.
Still deciding what to get. -
So there is about 200 points more on XP at any resolutions?....
Hi guys, just add another 200 points on my 3DMark06 5411 OC benchmark 1024X768 as XP score....how about 5600?

The 8600m GT will do good overclocked since it has so many stream processors. Its cut down so low probably to keep energy use down and heat down, but for an enthusiast its a great GPU to overclock.
Also nvidia may want to keep it down so there next product looks that much better. often thats all a gpu refresh is is a higher clocked older model with a few tweaks. -
you sure your not talking about the 14.1" asus that has already been released with the 8400M G? because A8SC-A1 is the model number for that and i have never heard of a 8600M G before?
thanks sheldon -
This is the spec Asus sent me, I just copy and paste:
A8SC-A1, Part Number: 90NNXAC132135AQL201Y
-14" WXGA(1280x800) LCD Glossy
-Inte Core 2 Duo Processors T7100 1.8GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB
-nVidia GeForce 8400M G
built-in 128MB VRAM
TurboCache up to 384MB w/ 1GB RAM and 896MB w/ 2GB RAM
(DX10 Support) -
Ok - so it is in fact the 8400M G, not the mystical 8600M G!
Petrov. -
Yeah thats the model already available here in Germany:
http://www.notebook.de/asus-a8sc-serie-g-627/
There is also a 15,4" version called the F3SC:
http://www.notebook.de/asus-f3sc-serie-g-623/
It is not a gaming system. I think most people are looking for something with a bit more beef. I think it is called the F8 and is a 14.1" with a 8600M GT. -
Sorry my bad, it is 8400M G
, I must been playing with G1S and F3SV too much over the weekend...SORRY!!!

GenTech Im looking to get a G1S or a C90 from you here in the near future (or C91 ^^) people are getting machines installed with x86 Vista. When you get your hardware does it come with a full retial version of Vista that contains both the x86 and x64 versions so I can manually put the x64 version on my notebook (and desktop too for that matter) I assume its like the full retial version in that it can be put on as many machines as you want and not the "system builder" type that can be installed only on one machine 1 time....
Thanks for the feedback. -
The G1S comes with Vista 32Bit pre-installed and there is no option from Asus to upgrade or downgrade the OS, the Vista Home Premium 32 provided by Asus is not a full version disk, it's only the recovery DVD that you can only install it on the G1S, also we can't give it back to Asus for exchange and ask for the 64bit and pay the difference, they don't do that. we can only provide the full version OEM vista 64bit if you want to get one, the OEM full version disk can only be activate for one machine.
For the barebone like C90S, you have more options on the OS to choose from. -
Yes GenTech do u have oblivion???
No sorry but u r wrong its 3630 @1280*1024 without OC and 5411 @ 1024*768 with OC so the difference is 1800 point between 1280*1024 and 1024x768 not 1280*1024 which make sense
Ok when the A8 arrive with 8600m GT 256???
-Jabriiiz -
YAH!!!!
did u mean u want to install XP ?? If u mean that yes
Did u mean u want to do more OC'ing ?? If u mean that so YES
Did u mean u want to install XP and do more OC'ing?? If u mean that so YES YES ,JUST DO IT ..........Nike lol

Thanks for the ultra quick reply!
This is disturbing to me, as a computer hardware guy... to have the top model gaming enthusiast notebook come with 32bit Vista.. 64bit is noticably faster and supports more ram. If it wasn't for the fact they offer Vista Ultimate 64bit I would very much think the reason for this is that not all the hardware is compatible with 64bit yet... but since they do... its probably a marketing ploy to force people onto ultimate if they want x64 wich is a major waist :/
In AUS if you had x86 Vista you can mail microsoft and they will send you the x64 version for free with just the cost of shiping... I dont think they have anything like this in the US tho. (your code works for both) so as long as you have a genuine windows vista code that comes with the asus disk... you can get a "copy" of Vista x64 via any nessacary means and install it with your code.
So when you get around to it... does the Asus disk have a genuine code? -
is there any idea of a release date for the f8, and pricing by any chance?
thanks -
There is difference between recover disk and full version OEM.
All Asus laptops has product code on it but, it will only work with recovery DVD, Microsoft license to different channels with different pricing, there are also different rules from Microsoft depends on which version you get, there are COA only (Certificate of Authenticity, no Disk), or Licence with COA and a recovery disk and corporate version of full version disk with special Windows product code, the code will not work with other version and it can only be activate with specific version of Windows or computers.
It's just different package offer by Microsoft to system builders. -
That is the question on everybodies mind. I am not even sure this laptop is planned by Asus. I have only read about it in this forum.
-
Ken , do you have the possibilities to some benchmarks with games like BF2 or other games on the ASUS G1S so I (we) can see some scores that are not synthetic like 3DMark
I would preciate this very much
-
Working on that today
-
Great!!!
Keep up the good work
-
For Oblivion I set graphics to high then increased res to 1280X960 and got the following:
Min Max Avg
16 64 45.82
It mainly ran at around 33 most of the time. Haven't gotten too far in the game though, not sure where in the game is the best place to benchmark. This was done in the cave in the very beginning of the game. -
Awesome work Ken!
I was going to be subtle with this but screw it: I think Ken deserves some Rep for his posts. -
I agree... and did so. My new G1S is in transit. I'm going to use the OE HDD in an eSata enclosure as an emergency drive, preloaded with Vista HomeP
-
Do you guys think an Asus C90S with only a 1.86GHz 1066MHz FSB processor could score higher the G1S stock? I don't want to OC that would void the warranty...
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
Total Rep Up, I wonder why after all of this we still only have one benchmark for actual gaming.
btw, mryerse, the best place to benchmark is outside. -
Try these drivers:
http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers
read this if you have problems:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64910 -
Had to lower the res on COH to 1024X768 for it to be playable. That's with all other settings like texture detail etc on high, so lowering other stuff might be better.
Checked those drivers, thanks. Asus posted an update recently though so I'll stick with those. -
Would love your opinion on this: do you think having the 256mb DDR3 VRAM (G1S) would still outperform 512mb DDR2 VRAM cards (e.g. Zepto 6625/6224) in real world gaming applications (ie not 3dM06)?

Sorry for the delay, I finally have some free time to do it:

Hi!
After reading about which laptops support Santa Rosa, I ended up in the two laptops of this thread: G1S and F3SV. However, in Greece, they told me that F3SV has a 1280x800 resolution, while G1S has 1680x1080. Is this true?
I would also like to know the System Rating of both notebooks in Windows Vista.
Finally, if anyone knows I would like to suggest me one of these two. Note down that I need the notebook for my job and I do not care so much for the performance in graphics. -
I have the G1S and here are the Vista System Ratings I get (note I have a 7200 100gb drive rather than the standard 5400rpm 160gb drive).
Windows Experience Index 4.8:
Processor: 5.1
Memory: 4.8
GFX: 5.9
Gaming GFX: 5.4
HDD: 4.9
Petrov. -
Which is the overall rating?
-
4.8 - but i think that just takes the lowest sub-score (I could be wrong, but thats what the little tooltip says).
Petrov. -
It might very well be true. In Germany the G1s is available with 1280x800 and 1440x900 and not with 1680x1080. In other places this might be true for the F3SV. Look carefully before you buy.
-
OK. Thanks.
Can anyone verify the resolution of both notebooks? Also, I read that a new V1 notebook will be released that supports Santa Rosa. Is this true? Does anyone know the exact model? -
There will be a V1 Santa Rosa upgrade. But the details are not yet known.
-
UK has 1680x1080, if anyone's wondering.
Petrov.
