Welcome Periklis_Pap,
I know I said you could use the photo, but you may want to use photoshop or something, and put your name on it instead, LOL!
FIX YOUR TAGS SOLDIER!

BTW Guys,
I don't know if I mentioned this earlier, but EIement was the one kind enough to do that SIG for me.
-
Not sure if I'm doing this right, but here's a sig I whipped up, in case you don't have mad Photoshop skills!

Haha very nice, sorry for the mistake guys I am cahnging the pic, from my exitment I didnt noticed that there was the striker name

Guys I have a question reagrding the laptop perfromance in games, in this review http://www.notebookcheck.net/Hands-On-Asus-G73Jh-with-ATI-s-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5870.25103.0.html , it says that in HD the game dirt is playable is there anyway to set the quality lower than HD? or you simply have to lower the ress in games?
Also woriking on photoshop the signature photo... -
Justin in the other G73 thread just said that Asus updated them and said only 1 shipment of A1 on Feb 17
-
You guys aren't going to die waiting for a few more weeks...maybe first and 2nd shipment got merged together because I recall there was a 3rd shipment in March with the exact date of the 2nd shipment listed by Justin.
-
Speak for yourself lol. I don't think i can take another week
-
I was one of the first people pre-ordering this, I'm not even close to the dying level that some of you guys are experiencing. And with my decent desktop on the fritz at the moment, I'm using an old 8 year old desktop.
-
I'm about to preorde r I hope this can play Resident evil 5 good
-
Yea I am one of the first people to preorder aswell making my choice on Jan 1st. Im running a 6 year old desktop also lol. With all the delays that this thing has had why bump it back 2 weeks at a time only to bump it back another 2 weeks. Probably wouldnt seem as bad to most of us had they just had one delay from the start moving it a month back. This projected Mid-Late January at first and now its looking like Late Feb before we see this big guy. Good things are worth the wait i suppose
-
Just placed my order at XOTIC PC, and am glad to be among you all. I would like to say Justin has been very accommodating as well.
Now the wait......which won't be nearly as long as some of you guy's out there. -
I beg to differ. If you JUST placed your order you will be waiting much longer than some of the guys out here.
-
actually... I've been waiting for a month, and I have to wait for another 2 1/2more weeks.. and he'll be waiting for a month. lol

With this new delay, I have decided to back away from the G73JH. I have been waiting on this model since November, and I am all out of patience here.
I have asked ModCat if the lead post of this thread could be passed off to another member, and asked ViciousUSMC if he would be interested in taking the lead.
Thanks!
-
Sorry to see you go and I don't blame you. I'm reconsidering as well.
-
The delays are just horrible. I am sure there are heaps of frustrated people out there, including myself!
May have to look elsewhere too. -
This is like asking a guy if you can date his ex girlfriend right after she dumps him, but... Can I have your delivery slot then?
-

I have formally cancelled my order with GenTech, so someone will move up to the 1st shipment accordingly.
-
What are you moving to if you dont mind me asking Striker....was looking at other options as well since my laptop just had another fit about 15 mins ago and wasnt sure it was going to be resurrected again but I got it going for now.
-
what, /gquit so easily?
The ASUS G73JH guild needs you! -
btw, guys chill. Ken said that the first shipment did not get cancelled..... it was just being held at the customs.
Which means shipment 1 and shipment 2 are probably going to arrive at the same time (17th Feb). Those who are already on shipment 2 probably won't be affected (I think). 1 extra week wait for those who were originally in shipment 1, that's all (I hope). -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
Hello guys, I am getting conflicting info here. Ken, I ordered from you and how you explain it is how I figured it according to your order form wording, but paladin44 posted his comment and I asked to be sure. I do notice PowerNotebooks doesn't use your wording when it comes to the windows option, so is this just a difference in the resellers options?
If so Ken, how do I get a W7 Home Premium 64bit disc so I can fresh install if I wanted and even more important are the backup/restore and repair options?
Thanks,
Q -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
As Ken stated by default there is only a recovery DVD that is included with ASUS Laptops. You do not get a Full Version Windows 7 disk.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
If you keep the standard Windows 7 OS you will get the Windows 7 software disk as described more artfully by Ken, and it does not have the Windows repair or Windows backup/restore features. You will also get the drivers and utilities disk as described, and the all media ODD reading/burning disk.
If you upgrade to another version of Windows 7 you will get what has been described as the "full version" Microsoft DSP OEM disk, as well as the drivers/utilities/ODD disks. -
I do have to ask what did you switch to?
-
Due to certain reasons I have also decide to cancel my preorder. Congrats to someone moving up to 1st shipment!
-
If evensen cancels too I'm going to go crazy.
-
being in shipment 1 and 2 doesn't make a difference now. They both come in at the same time.
-
Changed as requested

I just can't believe it $tR|k3r. You were the champion... your were the rock... you kept hope alive in all of us.
and now your OUT !!!
I need more than "we can still be friends..."
What system are you going to... When will that ship.... does it have a cool cooling system like the G73... Will it's back lit keys twinkle as bright as ours...
We need to Know.... We demand an explanation !!!
However,
On the serious note. Sad to see you go. It was your enthusiasm for this system that made me feel the waiting will justify the ends.
Which I still do.
Thanks for everything you have posted and brought to this forum. I can't imagine it without you or being what it has evolved into without your care.
Thank You !!! Truly, Thank You.

Thank you so very much for the kind words...... sincerely!
You guys keep asking what system I am going too...... now how can I answer this in open forum, without myself, looking like a troll.
I REFUSE TO TROLL!
Let me just say, I have X-Fire in mind, and it's not going to be the great bargain the G73JH is.
LOL!

I am a new user of this site, I was just wondering if the ETA on these shipping is still mid February or has it been pushed back again? I have not ordered one yet, but plan on doing so very soon...ALSO, does anyone know of an ASUS dealer in the St. Louis, MO area that i may actually get a look at one of these in person later when they start arriving? Thanks!
-
You will get g73jh on March if you order now. I believe ETA for the a1 is feb 17th and a2 is the 10th, but there's high chance that this will be pushed back to 17th according to information that resellers gave us.
-
Roger that, thanks! BTW, what is the difference between the A1 and A2?
-
No problem. The difference between a1 and a2 is the optical drive. The ETA I mentioned was for people who pre ordered early. For people who pre order now will most likely get it on early march.
-
A post from one reseller early this morning said if you order now, you'll be in the second delivery, now thought to coincide with the delayed-to-Feb 17th first delivery, but another said it was difficult to tell unless you were in the top 10 of preorders.
I think I may just wait and see what happens, unless this machine will be completely sold out by pre-orders? Does Asus really produce that low a number of a particular model that that could happen? I find that hard to believe, but I've been wrong before and I know I'll be wrong again.
Hopefully the A1 configuration will show up intact at Best Buy soon enough so I can use my 18 months same as cash credit there and not have to spend real cash on this bad boy! -
A1 has blueray drive, A2 doesn't. That's it
-
It's probably not ASUS which is the bottleneck, but ATI; it's a brand new card, probably on tight allocation, and there are rumors there may still be a driver issue to resolve before it can ship.
As for the Best Buy model it will be "crippled" most likely in terms of a lower resolution screen, only one hard drive (maybe only 320GB), half the RAM, and a lesser warranty; it'll be cheaper, however. This has been the rule in the past, anyway. -
Lesser warranty... Ah. The Geek Squad.
-
Thanks folks! Looks like i want the A1 for the Blu Ray player...
-
Backed out so easily people? What is another week or two when you think about it...

As you guys can see I am working on the first post. Im at work so only so much time on my hands but I am cleaning up navigation and trying to make things more truncated so you dont have to scroll so much to view the entire post each and every time you go to look at it.
Pictures are for first time viewers mostly after that they just tend to get in your way.
I thank striker for starting the lounge and for giving me the honor of maintaining it (I was volentold
)
So please if you have things I need to add, PM me so it gets my attention. -
My only suggestion is that once these pups ship you start an actual Owner's Lounge thread and let this one slide into obscurity, for all the obvious reasons.
-
So my X-Mas present that became my Valentines Day present is becoming my St. Patricks' day present. Geezz...

I am fairly certain I read a post by either Ken or another reseller here on the forums that the shipment was in the US right now. The problem is that Customs is holding the shipment until it's inspected. I don't remember if it was posted in the owner's thead, or the "little" 480+ page thread.
However, my profession is that of shipping/receiving, logistics, imports and exports. My company ships and receives many containers throughout the world. Generally speaking, a container ship stays at port until it is completely full. Once full, it sets sail. 3 weeks later it arrives at a US port, where customs holds each container to review paperwork. Randomly (because they can't open and check every single container) they select containers to visually and physically inspect their contents. The dealer I am referencing here said that customs usually flags about 2 Asus shipments a year, and they are holding an Asus shipment as I type this.
So don't jump ship yet guys. Your G73 is most likely here in the US, closer than you think. The issue is not with ATI or whatever. Think about it.......if they were still waiting for graphics chips or even blu-ray drives (fire speculation at plant) there would still be a 3 week journey across the sea.
So, since each shipment was seperated by a week, it would stand to reason that they were in seperate containers, on seperate container ships. As long as the 2nd shipment isn't flagged for a physical inspection, they may arrive simultaneously.
All conjecture and speculation on my part, but it is an educated guess, since that's what I went to college to do.
