oh then that might be it!!!
I have the same thing, like horizontal lines moving to the left or cracking whatever
is it easy to reconnect? I don't really want to touch too much inside there. I am afraid of messing up something.

70 degrees on the master card is not unheard of at all in the bios , The master card itself runs about 15 degrees hotter then the slave card all the time . The card run at 3d clocks in the bios 550/850 and the fans only spin at 2k . The drivers in windows and power play are what tell the cards to run @ 2d clocks.
Whatisnotebook They are 2 seperate cards. -
-
I don't see how that can be correct. 70C and you haven't even loaded the OS yet? What is the gpu running that could be pushing the temp up to that? And what are the temps like when in Windows, even worse gaming? All I can see is that the vent in the back where the air is coming out is hot to the touch, so much so that I really am worried it's going to do damage to my desk. And now the video card crashes are coming for frequently now, probably cuz my vid card is about to die due to overheating. Can you confirm Quad, by going into ur bios and checking the VGA temp? -

NOPE!!! Crossfire is basicly ATI's version of SLI witch means the 2 cards are bridged together via a simple cable. if that cable goes bad than you will have to get a new one(duh) and disable one of the cards and just use one (another duh) LOL!!!
2 cores that would be nice. i meen 4 cores on 2 cards that will be like mega WIN in the pwnage dept. 2048Mb VIDRAM!!! SWEET!!!! -
-
the type of the cable port IS a flaw design. it is easy to get loose during shipping. I have a mp3 using this kind of port on it screen. Once I put it in my pocket for a day and then the screen displayed nothing. Disassembling the machine, I found a connection problem.

Quadzilla's advice is sound... BOW TO THE QUADMASTER AND RMA THE BEAST!
if you want to tho im not TELLING you to do anything you dont want to -
Here is what i do to monitor my temps and make sure everythings A OK .
Open the Ati control panel, bring up the temp gauge. Now fire up a 3d game let it run for a few minutes in actual game play then ALT-tab out . The highest temp will stick for about 2 seconds and this will give you enough time to see how hot the card is actually getting. -
do you have a page with steps to opening up the laptop? I took out the 4 screws on the back but i don't know how to take it off
-
-
-
WOW so much easier than my M9700's 6 screws and pry off cover <_< >_> >_<

I am planning to replace the original thermal joint with Arctic Silver. Maybe I can offer some disassembling pics after that, if needed.
-
-
do I have to take off the heatsinks? :S they sure made that yellow cable hard to reach
-
If you want to avoid damaging the sockets the cable plugs into i would recomend removing them. it would make it easier to take off and put back on.

this thread is worthless without pics
-
hehehe i hope mine dosn't have these problems..... im getting ichy to get it

-
ROFLMAO! -
It is hard to take those heatsinks off tho
:S
still trying to see how to. it feels like it is stuck in there -
its probly locktite be careful not to break your screw heads or strip them out. -
-
i wonder if ati made it hard to take off thier cards for a reason ~_~
i hope you dont break your machine GOOD LUCK!!!
oh and bythe way dont let the screwdriver slip *bump* OOPS!!!
LOL! -
lol no problem. i am being careful, that is why took me some time to take off the heatsinks. they do require a bit of force.
they didn't stop there tho, each card has 2 screws and they are really hard to get them off :O -
has anyone heard of "Stealth Machines"? i was lookin at them and one of em supports 2x 1024Mb nVidias but runs over 5k
i maxed it out and got it up to almost 9K O_O i was in shock at how much power they crammed into 17 inches (overkillmuch?)
-
-
WHY THE HECK would they only support the slave with one screw?
a card is a card expensive all the same i would just put another screw in there just to make sure it isn't going anywhere.
wait... there are 2 screw holders under the card..... right? -
Nope on the second card there is no place for a screw to go, but honestly these things are so secured its not even funny (even with 1 screw).
-
-
well in my laptop there were 2 screws per card, I know because i just took them out, now I finished placing it back. gonna test the laptop in a bit
-
guess i need to take another peek.

oh well , still getting the problem.
was a learning experience tho. Now the second time I open it will be easier -
well im gonna end my shift early so basically the worthless ranter here is gonna take a leave of absence.
hey good luck tho hope you can fix your problem and hopefully i can be of assistance when justin emails me back -
My X1 has 2 screws holding each card.
I have the W90 open right now and am about to apply some AS5 to the GPU's and will prolly do the CPU as well.
.... Oh, and yes I'm taking pic's -
I have uploaded a video of my problem. The video was taken on an iPhone so the shaking is not very noticeable but you can still see it.
This was in Mirrors Edge.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCuircJ4jDc -
if you run dual boot on the w90 with vista/ win 7, how much of the gamin performance is compromised???
-
-
-
Talk about rough heatsinks...
The pic's are of the HS for the CPU. The ones for the video cards aren't much better
